This position performs preventative maintenance, repairs, and facility improvements while ensuring minimal disruption to operations and a positive experience for staff, members, and visitors. The General Maintenance Worker supports organizational goals by proactively identifying maintenance needs, completing work orders efficiently, and maintaining high facility standards. Perform general maintenance and repair of buildings, equipment, and grounds, including electrical, plumbing, carpentry, drywall, painting, and minor HVAC work. Troubleshoot equipment and facility issues and implement timely and effective repairs. Perform minor repairs and adjustments to doors, locks, cabinets, fixtures, and equipment. Assist with installation, assembly, and relocation of furniture, fixtures, and equipment. Maintain facility appearance and functionality to ensure a safe and professional environment. Complete assigned work orders accurately and within established departmental timelines. Prioritize work assignments based on urgency, operational impact, and supervisor direction. Document all work performed in the maintenance tracking system, including labor, materials, and resolution details. Communicate work order status, delays, or unresolved issues promptly to the Maintenance Supervisor. Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on building systems and equipment to minimize downtime and extend equipment life. Ensure preventative maintenance tasks are completed on schedule and properly documented. Identify potential equipment failures and proactively address issues before they become major problems. Report equipment nearing end-of-life or requiring replacement to Maintenance Supervisor. Regularly inspect assigned facilities and grounds to ensure they remain in excellent operational condition. Identify and correct deficiencies proactively to prevent operational disruptions. Maintain high standards of cleanliness, safety, and functionality throughout all assigned areas. Assist with facility improvement projects, equipment installations, and renovation work as directed. Coordinate with Maintenance Supervisor regarding contractor work and project support. Identify issues requiring specialized contractors and report promptly to Maintenance Supervisor. Follow all organizational safety policies and procedures at all times. Ensure compliance with OSHA, ADA, fire codes, health department regulations, and applicable safety standards. Immediately report safety hazards, unsafe conditions, or incidents to Maintenance Supervisor. Maintain a safe working environment for staff, members, and visitors. Maintain professional and courteous interactions with staff, members, vendors, and visitors. Respond to maintenance issues promptly and professionally. Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding facility conditions and repair needs. Support a positive environment through reliable and responsive maintenance service. Assist with facility setup and breakdown for events and operational needs as assigned. Support department goals and operational priorities. Perform other duties as assigned by Maintenance Supervisor. Minimum 1 year of maintenance, facilities, or related experience required. Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, drywall, painting, and general maintenance. Basic knowledge of HVAC systems preferred. Ability to troubleshoot and resolve maintenance issues effectively. Ability to use computers and maintenance tracking software. Ability to manage multiple assignments and prioritize workload. Strong organizational and communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Must have access to vehicle and possess valid drivers license and sufficient liability insurance. Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull equipment and materials as required. Ability to work in indoor and outdoor environments. Bilingual capabilities in English/Spanish preferred. Ability to pass required background checks.Must acquire DFPS background check including FBI fingerprint prior to start of employment.
