Description:
Fundamental Mission:
This position is responsible for the entire purchasing scope for all assigned businesses, while managing activities and communications to insure that like requirements across North American Vallourec businesses are leveraged at the highest possible level.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
Education/Experience
- A minimum of an undergraduate degree in supply chain management, business, engineering or other related discipline; MBA preferred.
- a minimum of 6 to 8 years experience in industrial environment with ever increasing responsibilities;
- 3 to 5 years supervisory experience is preferred
Skills and Knowledge
- Ability to provide leadership and vision to diverse group of sourcing and management professionals to achieve desired results among various businesses.
- Ability to persuade or convince others to support an idea, agenda and direction from the department.
- Requires effective communication skills, excellent developed interpersonal skills, to manage stakeholders relationship.
- Requires effective negotiation skills, strong understanding of purchasing process and tools in an industrial environment, and a basic understanding of contract law.
- Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
- Basic knowledge of master production scheduling, material requirements planning, inventory control and production control
- Strong analytical thinking to question status quo to identify issues or areas for improvement and ability to determine the most effective solution to a problem.
Computer Skills:
- Ability to use SAP, Windows, and Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Power Point…)
Travel Requirements:
- Regular travel to worksites throughout the Houston area is required
- Domestic travel is required quarterly to Houma, Louisiana, Muskogee, Oklahoma and/or Youngstown, Ohio
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Team of 4 Category Buyers reports to this position
