In this position, you provide professional nutrition information and services for the UTHealth Houston School of Public Health Nourish Program, including teaching nutrition classes to graduate and health profession students and community partners, assisting with teaching activities in culinary medicine, gardening, diabetes and pediatric nutrition, DI simulation courses, and malnutrition training. Assist with planning, directing, supervising, and evaluating the delivery of clinical and research nutritional program services. Provide support to the Dietetic Internship & Nourish program directors and staff through activities such as supervising dietetic interns' Integrative Learning Experience projects.

Position Summary: Provides professional nutrition information and services for the UTHealth Houston School of Public Health Nourish Program including teaching nutrition classes to graduate and health profession students and community partners, assisting with teaching activities in culinary medicine, gardening, diabetes and pediatric nutrition, DI simulation courses, and malnutrition training. Assist with planning, directing, supervising, and evaluating the delivery of clinical and research nutritional program services. Provide support to the Dietetic Internship & Nourish program directors and staff through activities such as supervising dietetic interns' Integrative Learning Experience projects. Assist with marketing and promoting the Nourish program, including but not limited to representing the program with regional, state, and national nutrition organizations, updating the website, and catalog. Provide curriculum development assistance for nursing, medical and dental schools related to SB25 passed in 2025. Deliver instruction for the curriculum developed to meet SB25 requirements, along with other graduate level nutrition courses. Monitor current research and new programs in medical nutrition therapy, health and wellness. Development of new nutrition and culinary medicine curricula for community and research purposes, including virtual delivery of nutrition education. Development of and participation in shared medical visits. Assistance with development, implementation, and evaluation of research grants.
Position Key Accountabilities: 1. Develops and prepares the annual operating budget in coordination with other Nourish program staff
2. Recruits, orients, trains, supervises, and evaluates the work of nutrition students, staff and other assigned staff.
3. Oversees and implements nutrition program policies and procedures.
4. Prepares and submits required federal and state administrative reports and plans.
5. Manages caseload allocations and continuously develops alternative strategies to provide program services to in-need populations.
6. Oversees nutrition education activities, including culinary medicine and virtual delivery of nutrition education. May conduct audits, and analyze\ statistical reports to monitor and assess the quality and appropriateness of nutritional services provided; and oversees the implementation of any necessary corrective actions.
7. May act as a nutritional consultant for various clinics and agencies.
8. Advises health and community agencies on nutritional phases of food programs.
9. May direct and participate in the development of community, clinical, and team-building programs.
10. Directs clinic activities and staff in the compliance with state, federal and local policies, procedures, and guidelines.
11. Conducts training and development activities for in-service professional staff and support personnel.
12. Provides nutritional counseling to patients to help achieve the patient's goals. May assist in identifying, evaluating, recommending new clinic sites and staff positions that add to headcount. Maintains program equipment inventory and evaluates and approves requests for new equipment as necessary.
13. Assists in the development, implementation, and/or evaluation of State and local agency policies and procedures.
14. Oversees the maintenance of patient records for benchmarking progress of nutritional plans.
15. May complete, approve, and maintain timecards, time reports and other appropriate personnel documentation for supervised employees in compliance with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations, and UTHealth policies and procedures.
16. May serve as adjunct clinical Instructor for undergraduate nutrition students at UT School of Allied Health, Department of Nutrition and Dietetics.
17. Manages Human Resources activities of assigned staff in regards to: recruiting and selection, hiring and termination, training, professional development, mentoring, counseling, performance evaluations, and salary planning.
18. Other duties as assigned.
Certification/Skills: - Registered Dietitian (RD) by Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) required
Preferred: - Maintains dietetic registration and continuing education hours as specified by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and state licensure in Texas
- Le Cordon Bleu certification preferred
Minimum Education: - Bachelor's degree required, preferably in nutrition or public health. Master's degree in Nutrition preferred.
Minimum Experience: - Four years of experience in nutrition education or public health setting.
Physical Requirements: Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
