UTHealth Houston ENT Clinic in The Woodlands is hiring a Speech Pathologist to join their team. Position Summary:

Provides comprehensive evaluation and treatment of patients with speech and language problems. Responsible for evaluation and treatment of pediatric or adult patients. The role may be based in either the outpatient clinical setting, inpatient setting with various different hospitals or both.

Position Key Accountabilities:

May perform all or some of these duties:

1. Performs clinical speech and language as related to educational, medical, social and psychological factors to identify patient needs for therapy services.
2. Evaluates special populations, including neonatal patients for feeding issues related to cleft lip and palate, with referrals for specialized devices or therapies.
3. Plans and conducts rehabilitative treatment programs consistent with the specific area(s) of deficit. This may include documenting and preparing a patient Plan of Care for community or school-based outpatient speech therapists.
4. Coordinates with inpatient SLP to transition care from inpatient to outpatient following surgery. This includes determining the need for, and facilitating the referral to, specific specialist and imaging.
5. Performs outpatient speech therapy sessions with patients, in person or virtually. This includes instructing patients and families in appropriate means of communication. Writes reports on diagnostic findings, therapy used, and progress made.
6. Depending on department needs, may provide clinical coordination for speech therapy related programs, including pediatric based programs.
7. Depending on department needs, may recruit subjects for research programs.
8. Other duties as assigned.

Certification/Skills:
  • Speech-Language Pathologist by Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) required or
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) by American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) preferred

Minimum Education:

Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology required.

Minimum Experience:

Five years of clinical speech therapy-related experience. Depending on department, experience with cleft related speech and feeding issues may be preferred.

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds frequently and/or up to 20 pounds constantly to move objects.
