UTHealth is hiring!

Description:

The Children's Learning Institute (CLI) at UTHealth Houston is seeking a Senior Statistician to support a range of externally funded research projects focused on improving outcomes for young children, families, educators, and early childhood systems. Current projects primarily involve randomized controlled trials evaluating teacher professional development programs, parenting interventions, coaching models, and other educational and prevention-focused initiatives. The ideal candidate will bring strong quantitative training, broad methodological expertise, advanced analytic skills, and substantial experience managing and analyzing complex datasets with nested and longitudinal data structures.

The Senior Statistician will work closely with a faculty manager and collaborate with faculty investigators and research staff across multiple projects. Under the general guidance of the faculty manager and in collaboration with project staff, major responsibilities include preparing and maintaining analytic datasets, conducting statistical analyses, and helping translate research findings into forms that researchers and other stakeholders can readily understand and use. The Senior Statistician may also provide statistical support for grant applications and other research-related activities as needed. Opportunities for co-authorship on peer-reviewed manuscripts and other scholarly products are available based on contribution, interest, and project needs.

The successful candidate should have demonstrated experience applying advanced quantitative methods commonly used in education and prevention/intervention research, including generalized linear models, mixed-effects and multilevel modeling, growth modeling, structural equation modeling, latent variable and mixture modeling approaches, psychometric analyses, and missing data methods. Proficiency in SAS, including the ability to develop and modify SAS macros, is required, as many existing data management and analytic workflows are implemented in SAS. Experience with additional statistical software such as Mplus, R, SPSS, or Stata is plus. The candidate should also demonstrate strong data management and organizational skills, attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines, and the capacity to independently learn and apply new methods and software tools to address emerging research questions.
