UTHealth is hiring a Senior Advisor to the Dean for Leadership and Strategic Initiatives in Houston, TX. This is a full-time position.

Summary

The Senior Advisor to the Dean for Leadership and Strategic Initiatives serves as a strategic advisor to the Dean and a key member of the Dean's leadership team. This role represents the Dean on matters related to leadership effectiveness, organizational culture, leadership development, and execution of strategic priorities.

Working closely with department chairs, center directors, faculty leaders, and senior administrators, the Senior Advisor provides leadership consultation, executive coaching, organizational development expertise, and strategic guidance. The role strengthens leadership capacity, advances institutional priorities, and supports organizational alignment and change across the medical school.

The Senior Advisor partners with the Chief Strategy Officer and other institutional leaders to support implementation of strategic priorities and alignment of goals, leadership practices, and culture.
Essential Functions
  • Serves as a trusted advisor to the Dean. Supports the advancement of key initiatives. Translates strategic priorities into actionable plans. Monitors progress and improves execution. Leads stakeholder engagement and change management.
  • Organizational Culture and Change Management
    Promotes a high-performing and mission-driven culture. Leads change management initiatives. Assesses organizational climate and recommends improvements. Facilitates retreats and leadership discussions.
  • Leadership Development and Organizational Effectiveness
    Designs and evaluates leadership programs. Develops workshops, retreats, and curricula. Supports leader onboarding and transitions. Promotes continuous learning and development.
  • Leadership Assessment and Talent Development
    Advises on succession planning and talent strategy. Supports leadership searches and transitions. Develops leadership pipelines.
  • Special Projects and Dean's Initiatives
    Leads strategic projects for the Dean. Represents the Dean's Office on committees. Performs additional duties as assigned.
  • Executive Coaching and Leadership Consultation
    Provides confidential coaching to senior leaders. Supports team dynamics and conflict resolution. Strengthens leadership effectiveness and performance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Education
  • Master's Degree in a relevant field is required
Work Experience
  • 10 years of leadership or organizational development experience is required
  • 3 years of experience in academic medicine, healthcare, or complex organizations is preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Performs special projects as requested by Executive Management.
  • Strong executive presence and communication.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written communication.
Licenses and Certifications
  • Certified in Executive, Leadership or Physician Coaching preferred
Physical Requirements

Exerts up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount frequently to move objects.
