Description:

McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston, a leading academic health center invites applications for a Seasonal Hire position in the Department of Pediatrics, Division of Pediatric Medical Genetics. Candidates will be responsible for working on designated research or clinical projects on the topic of Tuberous Sclerosis Complex or other pediatric medical genetic disorders as assigned. This includes, but is not limited to, retrospective chart review, survey design, data collection, data analysis, as well as writing protocols and manuscripts. The students will interact with all members of the medical genetics team including nurses, and genetic counselors.

Seasonal Hires are a temporary status (No Benefits) and therefore may not be employed for a period of more than four and ½ months. These individuals may be hired either as full-time or part-time and must be a minimum age of 16 years.

The goal of the program is to offer the student a well-rounded exposure to the medical specialty, Medical Genetics. All of the students will have the opportunity to shadow at clinic and in the hospital to learn about clinical practice of Medical Genetics. Students will also undertake a project. The project will be decided upon and performed in collaboration with faculty members in the Division of Medical Genetics.
