Description:

The Department of Neurobiology and Anatomy at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston has a strong history in memory research and the underlying mechanisms of neuroplasticity. Research carried out by our faculty members ranges from identifying the molecules required for memory formation to how memory is stored at the systems level within the brain. In addition, the Department has a strong program in cortical processing of sensory information.

Seasonal Hires are a temporary status and therefore may not be employed for a period of more than four and ½ months. These individuals may be hired either as full-time or part-time and must be a minimum age of 16 years.

Interest in systems neuroscience and translational Alzheimer's disease research is preferred.

Position Summary:

Position Key Accountabilities:

Support research projects by assisting in the maintenance of transgenic mouse colonies, histology, performing behavioral testing and electrophysiological recordings. Depending on interest and skills, the successful candidate may carry out independent experiments and be
trained to perform specialized laboratory techniques such as surgeries, viral injections, optogenetics, two-photon imaging, and data analyses.
