Research Assistant I - Pediatric Neurosurgery

POSITION SUMMARY:

Manages the day-to-day activities for pediatric neurosurgical research projects of considerable scope and complexity.

POSITION KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1. Collects, evaluates, interprets, and documents research pediatric brain MRI, optical imaging data, and gait movement data to accomplish the objectives of a variety of research projects.

2. Uses Excel, R, MATLAB and common neuroimaging programs to analyze neuroimaging and gait movement data.

3. Influences project direction and outcomes by identifying opportunities to enhance, terminate, or re-direct research activities.

4. Helps in the recruiting and documentation of study participants.

5. Evaluates and interprets data and provides results to investigators to support publication

6. Maintains quality control checks and a safe environment in compliance with all governmental and University policies, rules, regulation and codes.

7. Assists in the preparation and writing of research reports, protocols, manuscripts, papers and grant proposals for presentation and publication.

8. Attends laboratory meetings of affiliated co-investigators.

9. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education:

Bachelor's Degree required May substitute required education with equivalent years of experience beyond the minimum experience requirement.

None

2 years related research or clinical experience preferred

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
