Position Summary:

The Center for Behavioral Emergency and Addiction Research at UTHealth School of Biomedical Informatics is now accepting applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow position to support the research of James Langabeer, PhD. This research center leads several large research and service programs across Texas, most notable the Texas Integrated Community Opioid Network and the Houston Emergency Opioid Engagement. Our work is focused on areas of substance use, mental health, and outreach to vulnerable populations. Specifically, the area of focus will entail designing and executing observational and clinical trials, epidemiological, and health outcomes studies to support continued expansion and leadership in this area. Health services research will also be involved, analyzing large national datasets to form evidence around improving the clinical and behavioral treatment of individuals with all types of substance use disorder.

This will involve taking leadership role in the initial design and development of multiple grant funding proposals. It will also require research on data collected on current community-based research that integrates clinical research, data science, and public health. Although the primary focus is on substances, additional population-based studies could involve other key diseases, such as cardiovascular health and emergency care. We anticipate the position to start immediately. This is a 12-month appointment, with a potential for extension based on funding. This position is based in Houston, Texas. The work schedule will be Monday-Friday, with typical university office hours (e.g., 9-5). Salary will be based on the NIH salary scale.
