Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Pediatric Surgery

Position Summary:

We are seeking an individual interested in the fields of genetic engineering and cell therapies for inflammation for development and eventual clinical translation of experimental therapeutics for neurological trauma. Responsibilities involve exploring immune modulation by cells using a variety of quantitative assays in vitro and in experimental models of traumatic brain injury. The successful candidate will be able to translate engineered in vitro culture systems into mechanisms of efficacy in vivo in a multidisciplinary setting.

Position Key Accountabilities:

1. Plans and conducts experiments, analyzes data, and prepares publications describing results.
2. Assists in training and mentoring of lab personnel, including graduate students and other trainees.
3. Reads and evaluates literature.
4. Possess interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate and communicate with individuals at all levels.
5. Have strong written and oral communication skills.
6. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education:

Doctoral/Terminal Degree. The ideal candidate should have experience working with primary cell cultures, and proficiency in molecular and cellular biology techniques. Familiarity with immunology, neuroscience, and/or traumatic brain injury is preferred. Applicants must have excellent written and oral communication skills.

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
