Position Summary:

Provides professional, educational, and clinical skills in organizing and directing occupational therapy services.

Position Key Accountabilities:
  • Coordinates all Occupational therapy to ensure appropriate patient treatment in research and clinic consulting.
  • Conducts patient consultation, evaluation, and program planning for patients being seen in the Neurology clinic.
  • Develops home exercise programs to instruct patients in the required exercise for treatment.
  • Reassesses patient status on an ongoing basis to ensure that treatment goals, plans, and program are appropriate.
  • Participates in the development and writing of clinical research protocols; utilizes knowledge of area of expertise (e.g. therapy) to promote safety and efficacy in research questions, protocol development, interventions, and outcomes.
  • Develops educational programs to increase patient/family and community awareness of Occupational therapy treatment including department faculty, staff, researchers.
  • Recruits and screens patients, enrolls suitable candidates for participation in research protocols.
  • Provides all study related activities related to rehabilitation therapies per research protocol.
  • Assists in the preparation of progress reports and grant proposals to both private foundations and governmental agencies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Certification/Skills:
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office.
  • Occupational Therapy (OT) by Executive Council of Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy Examiners - Texas Board of Occupational Therapy Examiners (ECPTOTE) required

Minimum Education:
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited school of Occupational Therapy required Master's Degree preferred Doctorate Degree preferred
Minimum Experience:
3 years of experience required
Physical Requirements:
Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
