Position Summary:

Operates ultrasound equipment and performs a variety of technical procedures to produce images for patient diagnosis.

Position Key Accountabilities:

• Operates ultrasound equipment and records results. Adjusts parameters on equipment, and reviews calibrations to assure that scans are reproducible under similar conditions.
• Assists with research activities.
• Performs basic maintenance on equipment to assure proper working conditions.
• May participate in diagnosis process to access maternal and fetal well-being.
• Assists with research activities by collecting data and participating in research projects.
• Demonstrates the use of ultrasound equipment and techniques to assist with the education of students, nurses, residents, patients, and physicians
• Attend continuing education seminars to stay abreast of technological advances in ultrasound and antenatal testing.
• Must be able to respond to emergency situations
• May perform other duties as assigned.

Certification/Skills:

• Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) Required. Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) by American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) preferred.

Minimum Education:

• Graduate of an AMA-approved school of Radiologic Technology or its equivalent.
• Associate Degree preferred.

Minimum Experience:

• Two years experience in diagnostic ultrasound.

Physical Requirements:

• Exerts up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds frequently and/or up to 20 pounds constantly to move objects.
