Description:

Medical Director, UT Health Premier Clinical Medicine Program

UTHealth Houston seeks a visionary physician leader to establish and direct its new premier clinical medicine program. Reporting to the Chair of Internal Medicine and serving as a member of the Division of General Internal Medicine, the Medical Director will lead the program's clinical strategy, execution, and integration within the medical school and faculty practice plan. The incoming Medical Director will work in partnership with operational, quality, and financial teams to deliver an elevated, patient-centered experience providing high-touch, high-quality, enhanced-access care. This person will hire faculty and staff to operate this premier clinical medicine program.

Key Responsibilities

Program Leadership & Strategy
o Co-lead with operations counterpart to develop and launch a premier medicine model (DMO, Director of Clinical Operations or other designees)
o Define clinical standards, protocols, and service delivery frameworks for high-touch, high-quality, enhanced-access care.

Clinical Oversight & Practice
o Provide direct patient care within the program.
o Maintain high patient satisfaction and quality indicators consistent with academic and private practice benchmarks.
o Participate in after-hours call and/or supervise Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) who take call

Stakeholder Collaboration
o Collaborate with the CMO, CFO, COO, Quality Director, and other clinical directors to align strategy and operations.
o Coordinate with UTHealth's educational missions

Quality, Compliance & Financial Performance
o Lead continuous quality improvement initiatives and peer review processes.
o Ensure regulatory and accreditation compliance.
o Monitor program financial sustainability, revenue cycle, and patient panel growth.

Staff Management & Development
o Supervise physicians, APPs, care coordinators, and clinic staff.
o Recruit, mentor, and evaluate clinical team members.

Program Growth & Innovation
o Develop strategic outreach to UTHealth leadership and targeted patient populations.
o Evaluate expansion opportunities (e.g., executive wellness, telehealth services).

Academic Engagement
o Align program with McGovern Medical School's academic goals (teaching, research, clinical innovation).
o Participate in scholarly activities and foster research.

Required Qualifications
• MD or DO, board-certified in Internal Medicine
• Eligible for Texas medical licensure.
• Minimum of 10 years in clinical care, Concierge medicine experience strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated leadership in a clinical or academic environment.
• Strong skills in multidisciplinary collaboration and team leadership.

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience establishing or scaling concierge or executive wellness services.
• Demonstrated success in quality improvement, patient experience, and care coordination.
• Familiarity with academic medical center operations and faculty roles.
• Interest in academic scholarship and innovation in care models.
• Experience with the development office, grateful patient programs and philanthropy.
