We are seeking a licensed Athletic Trainer to support a busy orthopedic practice in partnership with the supervising physician. This role is ideal for a highly organized, patient-focused professional with strong communication skills, orthopedic clinical knowledge, and the ability to assist with clinic flow, patient education, post-operative care, bracing/splinting, and coordination across the care team.

Position Summary:

Provides athletic training services on an ongoing basis. Performs a wide variety of duties requiring specific knowledge of the clinic's policies and procedures.

Position Key Accountabilities:
  • Conducts patient 's post-operative appointments and performs post-operative procedures such as dressing changes and removal of sutures.
  • Monitors patient 's care such as incisions and signs of Deep Vein Thrombosis.
  • Conducts and educates patients on surgical procedures.
  • Provide personal fitting and education on the use and care of Durable Medical Equipment (DME) with patients.
  • Maintains clinical supplies for the department.
  • Responsible for providing patient documentation.
  • Liaison with Physical Therapy providers.
  • Monitors patient 's physical therapy and evaluates further treatment as needed.
  • Coordinates with Athletic Trainers and Coaching staff with area high schools, colleges, and universities regarding athlete care and rehabilitation.
  • Responsible for updating the Department 's web site.
  • Monitors and takes appropriate actions to maintain the department 's data base.
  • Collects appropriate research documentation and assists with presenting the information to Athletic Trainers and Coaches.
  • Maintains and assists in transporting patient charts.
  • Responsible for providing technology based information for educational purposes.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Certification/Skills:
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficient in PowerPoint and Microsoft Office.
  • Licensed Athletic Trainer by Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) by American Heart Association (AHA) required

Minimum Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Kinesiology, athletic training or related field required
Minimum Experience:
2 years of experience as a Licensed Athletic Trainer required
Physical Requirements:
Exerts up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds frequently and/or up to 20 pounds constantly to move objects.
