The Congenital Cardiac Sonographer joining our Pediatric Cardiology clinic operates advanced ultrasound equipment to perform specialized imaging procedures focused on congenital cardiac conditions, producing high-resolution diagnostic images that support accurate diagnosis, clinical assessment, and treatment planning at a senior level.

UT Physicians Pediatrics Multispecialty Clinic Katy

Schedule: Full-Time, Mon-Fri

Position Key Accountabilities:
  • Performs diagnostic cardiac ultrasound exams.
  • Assist the physician to diagnose heart defects or the exact cause of impaired blood circulation.
  • Explains the procedures to the patients.
  • Assists in the operation of ultrasound equipment and records results.
  • Adjusts parameters on equipment and reviews calibrations to assure that scans are reproducible under similar conditions.
  • Responsible for equipment management, including upgrades and implementation of new applications. Ensures equipment and systems are kept up to date and compliant with current standards.
  • Provides in-service training to new and existing clinical staff and serves as a lead resource to faculty and all sonographers. Trains sonographers, including new employees.
  • Provides system troubleshooting for image archive and data base systems.
  • Assists in establishing protocols; implements and standardizes for all clinical sites.
  • Attends continuing education seminars to stay abreast of technological advances.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Certification/Skills:
  • Ability to conduct congenital cardiac ultrasound
  • Must be able to respond to emergency situations as necessary
  • Ability to adapt imaging protocols for congenital cases.
  • Operation and calibration of ultrasound equipment.
  • Image optimization and documentation for diagnostic accuracy.
  • Work independently and under pressure in clinical settings.
  • Stay current on technology advances by attending continuing education seminars.
  • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) by American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) required or
  • Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) by Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) required
  • Pediatric Echocardiography (PE) by American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) preferred

Minimum Education:
Graduate of an education program approved by the credentialing body for the required credential(s) AMA- approved school of Radiologic Technology required Associate's Degree preferred
Minimum Experience:
4 years experience in Diagnostic Congenital Cardiac Ultrasound required
Physical Requirements:
Exerts up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds frequently and/or up to 20 pounds constantly to move objects.
