The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating educational programs for clinical staff to ensure the highest standards of patient care. Key responsibilities include conducting training sessions, creating educational materials, and providing ongoing support and mentorship to staff. The Clinical Educator will collaborate with various departments to identify training needs and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Position Summary:

Provides formal and informal training and mentoring for direct patient care and non-patient care employees, including support staff.

Position Key Accountabilities:

1. Evaluates and assesses educational plan for employees for a comprehensive competency based orientation program.
2. Assists with design, implementation, and evaluation of educational programs.
3. Assesses, plans, develops, implements, and evaluates educational activities.
4. Coordinates orientation and staff training activities as well as integrating knowledge of education standards, institutional goals and current healthcare practices in the design of educational programs.
5. Plans and prepares materials for orientation incorporating needs of all staff including student trainees to include nursing, residents, and volunteers. Assesses and adapts appropriate orientation process and makes necessary changes based on identified needs.
6. Develops in-service and educational programs based on needs assessments, quality improvement data, and regulatory bodies requirements, after a complete review and validation of needs. Collaborates with schools of higher education to meet all in-service and educational needs.
7. Determines and participates in the design of educational programs including Continuing Education programs which involves the application and post program follow-up.
8. Collaborates with the department head in the development of departmental quality indicators after careful review of quality improvement issues indicating performance improvement education.
9. Participates in audits. Documents teaching/learning process and outcomes in accordance with standards.
10. Shares knowledge and skills through professional presentations. Acts as a consultant in the area of expertise.
11. Provides work direction and guidance to personnel within department. May lead projects and activities.
12. Other duties as assigned.

Certification/Skills:
  • Registered Nurse (RN) State Licensure or Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) by Texas Board of Nursing (BON) required

Minimum Education:

Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related field from an accredited nursing school required. Master's degree in nursing preferred.

Minimum Experience:

Five (5) years nursing experience; preferably having 1 of those 5 years in a similar educational role.

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
