UTHealth is hiring a Carpenter II (Auxiliaries) in Houston, TX. This is a full-time position.

The Carpenter II p a{ text-decoration: none; color: #464feb; } tr th, tr td{ border: 1px solid #e6e6e6; } tr th{ background-color: #f5f5f5; } erforms skilled journeyman-level carpentry work involving the construction, maintenance, repair, and renovation of building structures and fixtures. Responsibilities include repairing and installing doors, windows, flooring, partitions, stairways, and other building components; constructing cabinets, furniture, shelves, tables, andspecializedwoodproducts; performingshopworkandflooringinstallation; maintainingandrepairingtools; estimatinglaborandmaterialneeds; andcompletingotherassignedduties.

Position Summary:

Provides skilled craftsmanship as a journeyman carpenter in the areas of construction, maintenance, and repair of building structures.

Position Key Accountabilities:
  • Performs general carpentry work in alteration, repair and maintenance of buildings, floors, roods, stairways, partition, doors, windows, screens, scaffolding forms, wood fixtures and furniture.
  • Builds cabinets of various sizes and designs, builds tables, doors, shelves, bookcases and a wide variety of specialized laboratory articles of wood.
  • Performs skills bench work in shop, hands doors and windows, lay linoleum and tile floors.
  • Cleans, sharpens, and repairs hand and bench tools.
  • Makes estimates of time and material required for assigned tasks.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Certification/Skills:
  • Must have effective communication skills.
  • Manages Human Resources activities of department in regards to: recruiting and selection, hiring and termination, training, professional development, mentoring, counseling, performance evaluations, and salary planning.
  • Driver License (DL) by State of Texas required

Minimum Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent and completion of trade school required
Minimum Experience:
5 years of journeyman level carpentry experience required
Physical Requirements:
Exerts up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds frequently and/or up to 20 pounds constantly to move objects.
