Description:

Ruiz Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Science, McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston, is seeking a board-certified or board-eligible, fellowship-trained glaucoma specialist for a full-time academic position at the rank of Associate or Full Professor. We are looking for an accomplished academic physician with a strong record of clinical excellence, teaching, and scholarly activity. A generous endowment will be provided to support the candidate's educational and research initiatives for individuals qualifying for the Associate or Full Professor rank.

Position Key Accountabilities:

This position offers an academic appointment encompassing both research and teaching responsibilities. We seek a clinician committed to developing a robust practice at our primary facility, the Robert Cizik Eye Clinic, located within the Texas Medical Center . Additional duties may include supervising residents and/or fellows at Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital, our county hospital that serves as the focal point of our educational programs.

This is an academic track role with eligibility for tenure. Appointment rank-Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor-will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications and experience.

Qualifications:

  • Completed fellowship training or equivalent in glaucoma.
  • Board certified/eligible in ophthalmology.
  • Texas medical license or eligibility to obtain a medical license in the state of Texas.
