Description:
McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston, a leading academic health center, is seeking applicants for a full-time (1.0 FTE) Assistant or Associate Professor non-tenure track position in the J oan and Stanford Alexander Division of Geriatric and Palliative Medicine within the Department of Internal Medicine.
The selected candidate will contribute to the Division's mission of improving the lives of older adults, individuals with serious illness, and the people who care for them. Our work is grounded in compassionate, relationship-based care and driven by a belief that aging and serious illness deserve thoughtful, coordinated, and human-centered approaches across every setting.
This faculty position is primarily clinical, with a focus on inpatient geriatric care at Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center. The faculty member will play a key leadership role in advancing geriatric consultative services and supporting high-quality, interdisciplinary care for hospitalized older adults. Opportunities for engagement in education, program development, and scholarly activity are available, supported, and aligned with the candidate's interests.
The position is based at Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center and includes direct patient care, supervision of learners, and participation in divisional activities that support the clinical and academic mission.
Position Key Accountabilities:
• Provide direct inpatient geriatric care at Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center.
• Serve as the primary attending physician for the Geriatric Consult Service, leading clinical operations and developing strong collaborative relationships with physicians, hospital leadership, and community partners.
• Provide coverage for the Acute Care for Elders (ACE) Unit.
• Supervise and teach medical students, residents, and fellows in both inpatient and outpatient settings as part of routine clinical care.
• Collaborate within interdisciplinary teams to support patient- and family-centered care planning and complex medical decision-making.
• Contribute to the development and growth of geriatric programs within the hospital setting.
• Participate in divisional and departmental service activities that support clinical operations and patient care.
Qualifications:
• M.D. or D.O.
• Active or eligibility for Texas Medical License.
• Board-certification or board-eligible in Geriatric Medicine.
• Board-certified in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine.
