Description:

McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston, a leading academic health center, invites applications for a full-time (1.0 FTE), non-tenure clinical track Assistant Professor/Associate/Full Professor in the Department of Diagnostic & Interventional Imaging, Section of Diagnostic Medical Physics.

Position Key Accountabilities:

The incumbent will join a collaborative and exciting team in Diagnostic Medical Physics within the world-renowned Texas Medical Center. Primarily a clinical position, the position focuses on management of MRI, computed tomography, fluoroscopy, radiography, mammography, nuclear medicine, and ultrasound equipment, as well as on radiation safety, including radionuclides.

Appointees will be expected to allocate some time to radiology and medical physics residency education and clinical research. Candidates will be eligible for a Non-Tenure clinical faculty position.

Work Environment:

Appointees will join a group of four medical physicists, three medical physics residents, one medical physics assistant, and a senior program manager. The team serves two large metropolitan teaching hospitals, multiple outpatient clinics, a medical school with over 50 residents in radiology, and a school of dentistry. Clinical and academic responsibilities are shared among the physicists. Candidates must be willing to travel periodically to facilities within the Houston metropolitan area.

Qualifications:
  • Doctoral degree in medical physics or a related science.
  • Board-certified or eligible for board certification in Diagnostic Medical Physics and/or Nuclear Medicine
  • Texas medical license or eligible for licensure in medical physics in the State of Texas.

    Priority will be given to those with experience in MRI protocol optimization and eligibility for licensure in nuclear medicine.
