UTHealth is hiring a Assistant Professor NTR - The Brown Foundation, Institute of Molecular Medicine in Houston, TX. This is a full-time position.

McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston, a leading academic health center, invites applications for a full-time (1.0 FTE), non-tenure research track Assistant Professor faculty position in the Brown Foundation Institute of Molecular Medicine (IMM), Center for Neuroimmunology and Glial Biology . The selected candidate will contribute to the department's mission to investigate the cause of human diseases at the genetic, cellular, and molecular level through research, teaching, administrative activities, and other services.

Position Key Accountabilities:

The Rank of Assistant Professor will strengthen an academic research division focused on glia and neuroimmune research in the IMM - Center for Neuroimmunology and Glial Biology.

  • Developing and sustaining an environment that supports excellence and innovation through assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating programs and standards that support positive outcomes, including excellent risk-adjusted outcomes.
  • Performing a variety of staff management functions, including interviewing, hiring, evaluating, counseling, and terminating assigned management and support staff.
  • Facilitating, reviewing, and approving future personnel and equipment needs.
  • Providing coaching, mentoring, support, and consultation to research personnel, colleagues, and staff.
  • Serving as a role model in professional behavior and leadership skills, problem-solving ability, and interpersonal skills
  • Delegating authority and accountability to staff consistent with professional standards, regulatory agencies, and organizational policies and procedures.
  • Collaborating with UTHealth Houston and administration to identify future opportunities and define the direction of department services, developing and implementing plans to achieve identified goals
  • Maintaining an ongoing departmental Quality Improvement Plan and process consistent with the organizational Quality Management Plan; developing and implementing unit-specific standards, policies, and procedures that guide and support services; continuously assessing and improving assigned departments' performance while enhancing service
  • Reviewing relevant financial reports and implementing modifications at UTHealth Houston to cut costs related to supplies, staffing, and service agreements, or identify viable alternatives for purchasing equipment and supplies.
  • Participating in and/or chairing committees, work groups, and meetings as appropriate.
  • Assuring interdisciplinary performance improvement programs are active, maintained, and ongoing. Following up to ensure that complaints have been satisfactorily handled. Collaborating to maintain a focus on providing excellent clinical services.


Qualifications:

The selected candidate for the position must have a PhD, MD/PhD, or equivalent degree.

Preferred applicants will possess a strong publication track record. Strong candidates will have active grant funding.
