Description:

McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston, a leading academic health center, invites applications for a full-time (1.0 FTE), non-tenure clinical track Assistant Professor position in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery .

An orthopedic surgeon is sought for an academic teaching position focused on resident clinical and surgical education. Fellowship training is welcome but not required. A strong interest in surgical fracture care is preferred to support a Level III trauma center. The selected candidate will advance the department's mission through teaching, research,

Position Key Accountabilities:

The Assistant Professor in Orthopedic Surgery will participate in research, teaching, clinical service, administrative, and other activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Participating in the UTPOrtho practice at Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital (LBJ) .


  • Collaborating with other physicians within the department and the University.


  • Being involved in the recruitment, selection, and hiring of new or additional physicians to the group


  • Providing feedback regarding office operations, including hiring staff, office logistics, and new physician recruitment.


  • Participating in the education and training of medical students and residents


  • Supporting the research mission of the department and university through:

Ø Facilitating reasonable and appropriate access to patients by research staff.

Ø Assisting when requested with a collection of research data, including biological specimens and

Ø Providing information and education on ongoing research studies to potentially eligible research subjects.

Qualifications:

  • Texas Medical License or be eligible for a Texas Faculty Temporary License.
  • Required board certification through the American Board of Surgery.
