UTHealth is hiring a Assistant Professor/Associate Professor/Professor (Tenure Track) - Integrative Biology & Pharmacology, McGovern Medical School in Houston, TX. This is a full-time position.
McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston, a leading academic health center, invites applications for a full-time (1.0 FTE) faculty position in the Department of Integrative Biology and Pharmacology . The selected candidate will contribute to the department's multidisciplinary approaches in the broad areas of chemical, systems, and synthetic biology, and/or the metabolism of human diseases.
Position Key Accountabilities:
Responsibilities include leveraging artificial intelligence and deep learning models to analyze complex biological networks and advanced molecular design for biomedical applications, including therapeutic development.
Qualifications:
The selected candidate for the position must have a Ph.D.

Preferred applicants will possess substantial extramural funding and teaching/mentoring experience.
Position Key Accountabilities:
Responsibilities include leveraging artificial intelligence and deep learning models to analyze complex biological networks and advanced molecular design for biomedical applications, including therapeutic development.
- Developing and sustaining an environment that supports excellence and innovation in research through assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating programs and standards that support positive outcomes, including excellent risk-adjusted outcomes.
- Performing a variety of staff management functions, including interviewing, hiring, evaluating, counseling, and terminating assigned management, clinical, and support staff.
- Facilitating, reviewing, and approving the budget for UTHealth Houston, including estimates of future personnel and equipment needs; ensuring that resources are optimally utilized through participation in strategic planning and financial budgeting processes, and development of practices that achieve specific objectives and resolution of unfavorable performance variances; providing leadership and implementing strategies to provide cost-effective quality research.
- Providing coaching, mentoring, support, and consultation to managers, research personnel, colleagues, and staff.
- Serving as a role model in professional behavior and leadership skills, problem-solving ability, and interpersonal skills
- Delegating authority and accountability to staff that is consistent with professional standards, regulatory agencies, and organizational policies and procedures.
- Collaborating with UTHealth Houston and administration to identify future opportunities and define the direction of department services, developing and implementing plans to achieve identified goals.
- Maintaining an ongoing departmental Quality Improvement Plan and process consistent with the organizational Quality Management Plan; developing and implementing unit-specific standards, policies, and procedures that guide and support the provision of services; continuously assessing and improving assigned departments' performance while enhancing service.
- Reviewing relevant financial reports and implementing modifications at UTHealth Houston to cut costs related to supplies, staffing, and service agreements, or identifying viable alternatives for purchasing equipment and supplies.
- Participating in and/or chairing committees, work groups, and meetings as appropriate.
- Assuring interdisciplinary performance improvement programs are active, maintained, and ongoing. Following up to ensure that complaints have been satisfactorily handled. Collaborating to maintain a focus on providing excellent research services.
