UTHealth is hiring a Addiction Psychiatrist (Board-Certified) - Faculty Position, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston in Houston, TX. This is a full-time position.

Louis Faillace, MD, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences of McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston, is seeking a board-certified Addiction Psychiatrist to join our growing academic and clinical enterprise. This faculty position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a dynamic department committed to clinical excellence, education, and research in addiction and behavioral health.

The successful candidate will provide evidence-based care for substance use disorders across outpatient and/or inpatient settings, while also contributing to the department's academic mission through teaching, supervision, and scholarly activities.

Position Key Accountabilities:

Clinical Care
  • Provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluation and treatment for patients across the lifespan, both adolescents and adults, with substance use disorders
  • Deliver medication-assisted treatment (MAT), including buprenorphine and extended-release naltrexone
  • Collaborate within multidisciplinary teams across UTHealth-affiliated clinical sites
  • Participate in call coverage as assigned


Academic & Education
  • Teach and supervise medical students, residents, and fellows
  • Contribute to curriculum development in addiction psychiatry
  • Mentor trainees and participate in academic conferences and case discussions


Research & Scholarly Activity (Optional/Encouraged)
  • Engage in clinical, translational, or health services research in addiction psychiatry
  • Collaborate with departmental and institutional research programs
  • Pursue external funding and scholarly publications (as applicable to track)


Qualifications:

Required
  • MD or DO degree from an accredited institution
  • Board certification in Psychiatry (ABPN)
  • Board certification or eligibility in Addiction Psychiatry or Addiction Medicine
  • Eligibility for Texas medical licensure
  • Demonstrated commitment to patient-centered care and academic excellence


Preferred
  • Experience in academic medicine or teaching environment
  • Expertise in treating co-occurring psychiatric and substance use disorders
  • Interest in program development, community outreach, or integrated care models
