Description:

Working with The LaSalle Hotel, a Tribute Portfolio by Marriott introduces you to a 100% refurbished and renovated upscale hotel positioned in downtown Bryan, TX outside of College Station and home to A& M! We are seeking a vivacious Sales Manager responsible for increasing the hotel's business by conducting direct sales efforts, follow-up, and proper sales administration.

In the role of Sales Manager you have the chance to connect and make a difference in many lives (as a busy hotel means work for all!) Sales - it is all about making a promise and then delivering on that promise with the support of a busy team who create the wow experience. In the role of Sales Manager, you will:

• Be an Ear that Hears - listen to clients and see their vision so that you can capture their business while delivering on the bottom line. Stay tuned in and rapidly follow up on inquiries, concerns and issues, providing an exceptional customer experience and making yourself the "go to" person for future rooming needs.

• Be Someone that Asks - knowing that you have a competitive landscape, be sure you are asking for the business so that you can exceed revenue expectations (and profit goals!)

• Be Diverse in your Efforts - solicit, negotiate and book new and repeat business using multiple channels such as outside sales calls, telemarketing and social media.

• Be a Community Presence - represent your hotel in the local community and be seen as resource when the local community needs to plan an event.

• Be a Hotel Presence - be sure you know, support and celebrate the hotel's staff as it takes a team to ensure success.

• Be Manager on Duty - if requested.

Duties & Functions

Essential:
  • Maintain an active sales and prospecting effort
  • Sales Training within Marriott modules and with NCHR
  • Achieve revenue goals for rooms and food and beverage
  • Follow up on all leads both by telephone and written correspondence
  • Approach all encounters with guests and employees in a friendly, service oriented manner
  • Maintain monthly incentive compensation worksheets and lead source analysis
  • Maintain positive guest relations at all times
  • Meet or exceed assigned quarterly sales goals
  • Meet or exceed assigned quarterly food and beverage goals
  • Meet or exceed assigned quarterly solicitation goals
  • Keep immediate supervisors fully informed of all challenges or matters requiring his/her attention
  • Check and respond to electronic communications in a timely fashion
  • Make telephone calls and emails to specified individuals as requested
  • Maintain regular attendance, as required by scheduling which will vary according to the needs of the hotel
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, as defined in the hotel handbook, when working
  • Participate in Revenue Management calls
  • Work and develop a social media following
  • Comply at all times with New Castle standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations
  • Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies/service procedures/standards
  • Anticipate guests' needs, respond promptly, and acknowledge all guests, however busy and whatever time of day
  • Coordinate groups involving rooms and banquet revenue
  • Correspondence including proposals, agreements and contracts for transient business, group and catering business.
  • Establish and maintain filing procedures
  • Work in conjunction with all staff members and customers to execute events and groups
  • Type correspondence, memos, and reports
  • Document all guest requests/complaints and communicate such to respective personnel for proper handling. Follow up on guest satisfaction
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of specified hotel information, correspondence, reports, and files
  • Complete any additional tasks assigned by General Manager


Job Requirements:

At least two years of progressive experience in a hotel sales department or related field is required and a college degree is preferred. Previous customer service experience is also required, with prior hotel experience preferred. The ability to use a computer and various sales related software programs/equipment is also required. Verbal and written English language proficiency is needed as is the ability to deal with difficult situations and people, while exhibiting a consistent level of professionalism and the ability to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately. Physical requirements include the ability to work long hours; sedentary work, i.e. exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects; the ability to work under variable temperatures and noise levels; the ability to see details; the ability to bend, stretch, twist or reach with your body and arms; and the ability to walk or stand for extended period of time. The ability to travel to clients and meetings may be essential depending on the size of your hotel's sales department.
