Description:

Position Summary:

Engineer with mechanical design experience, highly investigative mind inclined toward developing practical solutions for semi - automated production equipment to improve manufacturing productivity. The successful candidate should have proven machine design experience with highspeed pick and place automation integrated with PLC logic controllers. Future assignments related to machine safety, reliability, ergonomics, and product development to be determined and assigned once short-term goals completed. Plans and oversees utilization of production facilities and personnel in departments or other subdivisions of an industrial establishment. Responsible for complex planning activities for equipment layouts in plant, office, and production facilities. Conducts studies to determine the most efficient sequence of operations and workflow and recommends methods for maximum utilization of production facilities and personnel. Prepares cost estimates for proposed projects and evaluates cost factors.

Primary Accountabilities (Essential Duties):
  • Study existing equipment and develop strategies for improving upon current designs.
  • Conduct elementary design calculations for machine like Pneumatics or hydraulics, statics, and power transmission etc.
  • Provide exact estimates of time and costs needed to finish assigned work.
  • Successfully implement all project goals rigorously executing Project Management processes.
  • Comply with Total Quality Principles related with machine design.
  • Prepare drawings, designs and parameters for machines and related parts.
  • Calculate cost estimates for final product designs, and release reports to supervisors, incorporating costs of labor, material, delivery
  • Execute material and cost estimates, project schedules along with reports.
  • Design products using CAD and consult with engineering and manufacturing teammates to ensure that designs are feasible.
  • Record and evaluate designs as necessary to bring them to safety, performance, and efficiency standards.
  • Ensure all machine drawings adhere to customer's machine standards of drafting.
  • Interact with suppliers for commercial components final selection and write purchase requisitions.
  • Develop molds, dies, tools, fixtures, and jigs to be used in manufacturing process.
  • Plan/develop layouts new machines, plants, equipment, and tool designs to provide maximum possible operating efficiency.
  • Ensure to follow equipment construction based on plants capabilities.
  • Interact with suppliers for commercial components final selection and write purchase requisitions.
  • Develop molds, dies, tools, fixtures, and jigs to be used in manufacturing process.
  • Develop layouts new machines, plants, equipment, and tool designs.
  • Ensure to follow equipment construction based on plants capabilities.
  • Assemble entire machine design packages and costed Bill of Materials, check drawings' accuracy, add detail till merge drawings as required.
  • Consult with fabrication teams during product manufacturing, advising them on design specifications and providing physical assistance when required
  • Develop and build the equipment with the maintenance team and run tests to measure performance and reliability of designs.
  • Measures and studies available floor space and draws plan of floor space to scale, using drafting tools or computer-assisted design/drafting equipment.
  • May develop management systems for cost analysis, financial planning, wage and salary administration, and job evaluation.
  • Attend weekly team meetings to provide progress reports, obtain updates on colleagues' progress, strategize on steps for following week and acquire information about projected emerging product lines.
  • Train plant maintenance and operations personnel.
  • Working with Maintenance Manager to accomplish short- and long-term company goals.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's degree and three years of experience in an Engineering capacity. Experience with highspeed metal roll forming equipment is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills with individuals at all levels both verbal and written.
  • Advanced computer skills.
