JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for assisting in the day-to-day scheduling of the transportation vehicles in the Shoppa's transportation department. To ensure a culture of safety is fostered, trucks are maintained to Shoppa's standard, a high level of customer service is provided, loads are cost-effective and efficient, and DOT compliance is maintained.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: - Assist in coordinating efficient loads, prioritizing around customer urgency, truck type, geographic considerations, etc. Dispatches each driver and confirms delivery of their daily delivery schedule. Ensures efficient turnaround time for loads so as to minimize driver down time between loads.
- Communicates daily with branch transportation members to ensure seamless execution of scheduled deliveries.
- Files timely reports for any delays, incidents, or accidents for the Transportation Department.
- Maintains DOT compliance files, including tracking mileage by state and creating reports for Accounting on IFTA.
- Implements procedures that will ensure a consistent and professional level of customer service from the Transportation Department.
- Understands and manages the administrative processes of the Transportation Department, monitoring billing activity for the department. Escalates matters to the appropriate manager for resolution when necessary.
- Sources and utilizes outside vendors to supplement deliveries during heavy sales periods. Monitors and tracks costs associated with outside trucking for use with asset acquisition planning.
- Resolves customer issues principally through phone conversations and email with the customer.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 1 year material handling tire experience
- Basic mechanical knowledge and ability
- Detail oriented
- Self motivated
- Valid Drivers License with good driving record
- Able to perform physical requirements
- Strong communication skills and great customer service
- Positive attitude
