JOB SUMMARY:

The Collections Lead is responsible for setup of all new accounts as needed and when the Credit Manager is unavailable. As part of these responsibilities the Collections Lead will create accounts, grant credit, revise accounts and assist a team of 4 Collections Associates on day-to-day activities. The Collections Lead will also have a smaller portion of a collection's portfolio assigned. All activities will be administered in a manner emphasizing customer goodwill while exercising control and judgment. Similarly, these activities will be administered in a manner improving potential sales while, most importantly, minimizing financial exposure to Shoppa's Material Handling.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Establish credit limits by utilizing customer credit information, trade and bank references and credit reporting agencies
  • Adhere to Delegation of Authority in approving/declining credit limits based on available information.
  • Accurate and timely set up of Ship to and Bill To customers in system of record (ELC).
  • Assist Collections staff as needed to resolve complex billing and collection issues.
  • May be called upon to assist with the hiring, training and evaluation of Collections staff
  • Coach and mentor Collections staff in day-to-day activities
  • Evaluates staff expertise; realigns work tasks as needed to gain most effective use of resources.
  • Prepares and processes journal entries as needed with management approval.
  • Assist in resolving various sales tax issues.
  • Must be able to effectively use Charge logic to process credit card payments and refunds
  • Interface with other departments on collections and receivables issues as necessary.
  • Place or remove credit hold when warranted by established guidelines. Communicates status to interested parties.
  • Provides customer service when researching issues and providing customers with support to facilitate collection of amounts owed.
  • Mediates customer disputes by ensuring disputed invoices are entered into the dispute database.
  • Performs other duties and special projects as assigned


Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, customer service and presentation skills required.
  • Strong attention to detail. Must be able to prioritize and multitask.
  • Must be able to cope with stresses and demands associated with the job and/or work environment with acceptable and defined levels of performance maintained.
  • Typically works regular office hours but must be able to work outside normal office hours when circumstances dictate.
  • Excellent spelling and grammar required. Proficiency in MS Office applications required (intermediate Excel).
  • Basic business math skills preferred. Works well with others and is a team player.
  • 10-key, accounting principles, accounting software, A/R, aging reports, collections, data entry, invoicing, monthly closing and special projects.
