  • Maintain department's supplies and keeps equipment operational.
  • Organize, label and file charts and medical records.
  • Help transport residents as needed.
  • Act as an information resource for patients, families, visitors, physicians, and outside reviewers in person and/or via telephone.
  • Complete clerical duties for admissions, discharges, transfers, deaths and passes such as transcribing orders to medication/treatment sheets, ordering medications, dietary changes, therapies etc.
  • Complete lab and special examination requisitions and data entry, as it pertains to the medical records department.
  • Greet visitors, doctors, and new admissions with warmth and friendliness; helping with any assistance needed.
  • Transcribe and verify admission orders and daily doctor's telephone orders will be verified and transcribed in a timely manner.
  • Complete medical records by reviewing and assembling paperwork in proper order into a permanent folder.
  • Order labs, ultrasounds etc. required for new admissions.

  • At least 1 year experience in Skilled Nursing field preferred.

  • Complete clerical duties for admissions, discharges, transfers, deaths and passes such as transcribing orders to medication/treatment sheets, ordering medications, dietary changes, therapies etc.
  • Complete lab and special examination requisitions and data entry, as it pertains to the medical records department.
  • Greet visitors, doctors, and new admissions with warmth and friendliness; helping with any assistance needed.

  • Order labs, ultrasounds etc. required for new admissions.
  • Verify proper authorization for release of information. Processes subpoenas and routine request for copies of medical records. Receive and follow reception schedule/instructions from your supervisor and as outlined in our established policies and procedures.
  • Operate paging/telephone system as required.
  • Answer telephone, determine nature of call and direct caller to appropriate individual or department.
  • Receive inquiries and release information in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Ensure guests/visitors abide by existing rules and refuse admission to persons as directed.
  • Report suspicious persons/information to supervisor immediately.
  • Receive, sort and distribute mail as directed.
  • Other related duties and responsibilities that may become necessary or appropriate including filling in for other department personnel (such as marketing, social services etc.)
