RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Performs and directs placement of material and verification of material.
• Ability to operate crane to load and unload material as required.
• Review work order to determine customer size, thickness, quality and packaging needs.
• Set up, select and position saw/shear and material properly to commence cutting.
• Make necessary changes in process as required to facilitate safe and efficient operation.
• Verify dimensions and quality of sheared and saw cut parts.
• Calculate material utilization to minimize material waste.
• Verify the quality of the PVC application so that there is complete coverage of the sheet with no wrinkles.
• Perform regular quality / measurement checks to ensure orders meet customer requirements.
• Complete necessary reports.
• Work with crane operator/material handler to remove scrap and finished parts.
• Assist and perform cleaning and packaging functions.
• Maintain safe and good housekeeping in work area.
• Follow all safety guidelines and wear PPE.
• Perform preventive maintenance and minor repairs as required.
• Performs other duties and responsibilities as required or assigned.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS:

• Machine operation / set up experience. Prior metal cutting experience is a plus.
• Able to read a tape measure to 1/32. Experience with micrometers and calipers.
• Perform math using decimals to determine material optimization
• Good communication skills, works well with others and maintains a positive attitude.
• Self-motivated, ability to perform work tasks both independently and in a team.
• Excellent attendance, on-time, and dependable.

EQUIPMENT KNOWLEDGE:

• Experience operating shear, saw or other cutting equipment.
• Experience operating material handling equipment including forklift, crane a plus – Must pass evaluation before working independently.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Bending, stooping, and pushing, and ability to lift 50 lbs (22.7kg) maximum occasionally with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 lbs (11.3kg).
• Spends most of the day standing and moving around.
