Position Summary: The Office of Public Affairs at Rice University is seeking a part-time Marketing Videographer and Photographer to join its Marketing and Brand Strategy team to produce video projects and campus photoshoots. This role will report to the Director of Digital Media Strategy and is responsible for leading the production of compelling, mission-aligned video and multimedia and photo content that enhances Rice's brand visibility, promotes academic and research excellence, and supports major institutional initiatives across digital platforms.
The ideal candidate will bring expertise in managing projects from concept through final delivery, with a deep understanding of how to tailor content for a variety of platforms including web, social, digital advertising, and broadcast.
The Temporary Marketing Photo and Video Producer plays a key role in producing story concepts, planning photo shoots, managing post-production workflows, and creating content with multiple edits "reframing" content produced to meet the demands of specific channels (social media, event specific, editorial for news). A strong command of editing styles, audience behavior, and channel-native formatting is essential to ensure high engagement across YouTube, Instagram, LinkedIn and other priority platforms.
This individual will work closely with marketing, media relations and event colleagues to align content with institutional priorities and brand strategy and may also support the development of media-ready assets and cross-platform storytelling as needed.
On campus position : This position is exclusively on-site, necessitating all duties to be performed in-person. Per Rice policy 440, work arrangements may be subject to change. The position is for 25 hours per week (approximately 3 days a week).

part-time, project-based role, with an expected duration of 3 months. Working conditions - Weekend and evening work required.
Hiring Range : $35-$40 per hour based on experience
*Non-Exempt (hourly) positions under FLSA are eligible for overtime.
Minimum Requirements: - Two plus years of professional experience in video production, multimedia storytelling or visual journalism.
Skills : - Advanced knowledge of professional video production, including camera operation, lighting, and audio capture.
- Advanced knowledge of professional photography (portraits and events).
- Proficiency in industry-standard editing and design software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, and Lightroom.
- Strong visual literacy with a keen eye for composition, pacing, and visual storytelling.
- Solid ability to develop creative, engaging narratives aligned with institutional messaging.
- Effective ability to produce platform-native content in varied formats, including vertical, square, and widescreen.
- Demonstrated ability to transform creative concepts into creative images and compelling stories that align with institutional messaging.
- Comfort working both independently and within a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills to interact effectively with a service-oriented mindset.
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to manage a variety of simultaneous projects within tight deadlines.

Essential Functions: - Support the Director of Digital Media Strategy on content plans and capture.
- Participate the full video production process, including pre-production planning, scripting, filming, editing, and post-production delivery.
- Photography and photo image editing.
- Tailor and repurpose video content for specific platforms and audiences, using best practices in visual storytelling and performance optimization.
- Produce short-form and long-form video content for use in campaigns, news media, social media, websites, and digital marketing.
- Ensure brand consistency, accessibility, and production quality across all content.
- Capture b-roll, interviews, and on-location footage including events, labs, classrooms, and campus environments.
- Support cross-channel storytelling as part of integrated campaigns (photo and video capture).
- Work collaboratively across Public Affairs and with campus partners to ensure content reflects Rice's mission, values, and visual identity.
