Position Summary: The Athletics Events Coordinator will assist in the planning and execution of events for the department, including fundraising events, marketing efforts, and external event rentals. This position will report to the Assistant Director of Athletic Events and Rentals and will support the facilities, marketing, and development teams in the execution of high impact and revenue generating events. The ideal candidate for this position will be detail oriented, have experience planning events ranging from banquets to golf tournaments and beyond, and will have a passion for athletics.
Workplace Requirements: This position is exclusively on-site, necessitating all duties to be performed in-person. Per Rice policy 440, work arrangements may be subject to change.
• Must be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays as event schedule requires
Exempt (salaried) positions under FLSA are not eligible for overtime.
Minimum Requirements: - Bachelor's degree
- One or more (1+) year of related experience
Skills Required: - Must be able to correspond professionally both in writing and orally
- Must be familiar with MS Office Suite
- Highly organized, good time management, and sound judgment
- Good interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of people in a diverse community
- Demonstrated professional and effective public relations skills
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to multi-task and work well in a team setting or individual setting

Essential Functions: - Responsible for planning and execution of assigned athletic department events.
- Oversee the planning and marketing of the department's annual fundraising events ranging from golf tournaments to banquets to reunions.
- Maintain event schedules, coordinate the event planning, contracting, and approval process, and administer facility and event management policies for internal events.
- Supervise and/or assign event staff working events to ensure proper management of events.
- Support the facilities and operations team in the management of external event rentals and athletic events.
- Ensures relevant facilities are in peak condition prior to hosting events.
- Collaborate with internal administrative units and sport program staff to execute high impact events.
- Work with the marketing team to execute fan engagement efforts surrounding athletic competitions such as oversight of Tailgate Owley at home football games.
- Reconcile financials of events to ensure vendors are paid and payments due Rice are collected in a timely manner, collaborate with the business office to manage expense budgets for each event.
- Other duties as assigned.
