Summary Summary of Position:
The Applications Engineering Specialist is a key contributor within the Sales department, responsible for ensuring technical excellence and operational support across quoting, customer specification interpretation, and equipment selection. This role serves as a technical resource for both internal and external stakeholders.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Interpret customer Test Specification requirements.
- Select equipment to fit test applications and verify with feasibility, and/or studies.
- Translate requirements to optimum solutions.
- Provide applications and operational support as needed to Internal and external customers.
- Act as a technical resource for customer applications issues.
- Perform maintenance assistance and trouble shooting for internal and external support.
- Escalate feedback regarding changes, enhancements or challenges to existing products.
- Support product development in new product specifications and testing requirements.
- Perform Proof of Concept/Application Studies using customer parts.
- Manage instrument demo fleet.
- Provide online and onsite instrument training for customers and channel partners
- Monitor performance, identify problems and implement solutions to ensure optimal performance.
- Ensure quotes/proposals meet customer specifications.
- Drive customer satisfaction, advocacy and loyalty
- All other reasonable duties that are assigned.
Skills:
- Ability to work in a team but maintain independent work skills; be a self-starter/self-learner and possess a strong work ethic.
- Proficient in Microsoft Applications to include but not limited to; Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point and Teams.
- Ability to organize, multi-task and prioritize detailed work on multiple, concurrent tasks, with competing priorities.
- Great level of reliability and accountability as many functions of the role are subject to stringent or changing deadlines.
- Excellent problem solving/troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Excellent project management skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to influence. Effectively communicate in both verbal and written form. Willingness to explain difficult issues and think quickly.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and experience in engineering, or related technical field commensurate experience.
- A proven track record of successful work experience.
- Minimum 3 years in, interfacing with customers on software and hardware usage.
- 1-2 years of experience working with HubSpot CRM or similar.

- Ability to hear and verbally exchange ideas and information with the public, staff and others on the phone and in the office.

- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
- Use finger dexterity to operate a computer and other office equipment and hand strength to grasp files and other objects.
- May require the ability to climb stairs, to kneel and/or crouch to retrieve equipment and other items.
Work Environment:
Essential duties of this classification are performed in an office environment as well as offsite locations with moderate travel via car or plane. These work environments may include frequent interruptions and a high level of contact with staff, other members of management, customers, vendors, and off-site employees/locations.
