Your Job

Optimized Process Designs (OPD), a Koch Company, is looking for a proactive EI& C Project Associate to join the team. In this role, you'll contribute to the I& C engineering phases of EPC projects, from initial development through commissioning and turnover, ensuring seamless project execution.

This role will sit in office Monday - Friday at our headquarters in Katy, TX.

What You Will Do
  • Foster a "safety first" culture throughout all project phases.
  • Design and specify DCS, SIS, and PLC systems.
  • Create and manage I/O lists, Cause and Effect diagrams, and control narratives for large scale processing facilities.
  • Contribute to the development of process control philosophies and network architectures.
  • Review and refine vendor wiring diagrams, ensuring alignment with control philosophies.
  • Develop and update controls on P& IDs and coordinate design activities across disciplines.
  • Engage in workshops and meetings (PHA/HAZID/HAZOP, safety in design, etc.).
  • Define control subcontractor scopes and oversee their project execution.
  • Manage project scope changes while maintaining timelines and quality standards.
  • Track and communicate P& ID and control document revisions to relevant teams.
  • Provide expertise and support in resolving engineering, design, and construction challenges.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including vendors and subcontractors.
  • Offer short-term field support during construction and commissioning phases.
  • Attend Factory Acceptance Tests for control equipment.


Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering
  • Experience in developing P& IDs
  • Experience creating and maintaining I/O lists
  • Experience designing instrumented control and safety systems


What Will Put You Ahead
  • Professional Engineering license (PE)
  • Experience with EPC project execution and change management processes
  • Experience creating detailed network architectures
  • Experience with Safety Instrumented System (SIS), DCS, BMS, and PLC
  • Familiarity with Project Process Safety Management (PSM) compliance
  • Field construction engineering experience
