DESCRIPTION

Michael Baker International is seeking an enthusiastic, articulate, and motivated Senior Project Manager/Architect to join our dynamic and growing Architecture Team in our Dallas, TX Office . This market/practice role is responsible for continued strategic growth, development, and execution of Architecture/Building Engineering opportunities, projects, and qualifications in conjunction with our Aviation/Transit/Commercial Markets, regionally and nationally, positioning the Architecture Practice for growth, and ensuring project excellence. Promoting a seller-doer culture, this position is focused growing local/regional business development, relationships, and opportunities, as well as protecting established markets such as Federal/DoD, Aviation and Transportation, in conjunction with other senior leaders.

The candidate will be a licensed Architect who demonstrates successful experience with aviation, transit, and commercial clients delivering A/E programs and projects, including management of geographically dispersed, multi-disciplinary, collaborative project design teams comprised of architects, interiors designers, civil engineers, and building systems engineers. Responsible for all aspects of program and project management, the candidate must also be adept in evaluating potential opportunities to determine probabilities of success, providing recommendations, determining project time frames, and funding limitations, outlining procedures for accomplishing project requirements, and allocating available resources to various project phases. Additionally, the candidate must demonstrate strong collaboration and communication skills with the ability to develop new, and strengthen existing, positive relationships, both internally and externally, with colleagues and new clients, respectively. Articulate, concise, and consistent communication is essential for collaborating with leadership and project resources to outline workplan, responsibilities, quality management, risk assessment, and scope of authority, all the while ensuring that project milestones and objectives are accomplished within the prescribed scope, schedule, and budget parameters, clearly documenting, and communicating project progress to team and leadership.

Other essential skills include creative problem-solving, organizational skills, financial project management skills, production management capabilities, and a proven understanding of construction documents and constructability.

PROGRAM/PROJECT MANAGEMENT
  • Actively engage in robust, consistent communication with key existing clients/programs to determine needs, preferences, and future program opportunities.
  • Create and manage near and long-term goals for programs in which the candidate is engaged.
  • Routinely assess our program strengths and identify areas for improvement. Continually monitor program risks and strive to address and mitigate.
  • Develop/implement project work plans/methodologies for complex projects, as applicable. Lead projects/task orders for programs in which the candidate is engaged.
  • Direct and coordinate activities of multi-disciplinary teams to ensure project progression per schedule, on budget, and within scope parameters.
  • Coordinate throughout the Michael Baker building architecture-engineering enterprise, leveraging the strength and diverse array of talents of our organization to effectively meet our client's needs.
  • Lead and manage programs to ensure projects are delivered with excellence and quality to Client and Michael Baker standards.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • Aviation, Transit, and Commercial A/E clientele experience is preferred. Strategizes and leads dynamic, multi-disciplinary staff in the pursuit and execution of Aviation/Transit/Commercial-focused projects.
  • Proficient experience and understanding of interdisciplinary relationships between technical resources, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Facilitates inter-office/inter-disciplinary collaboration, communication, and cooperation.
  • Constructively critiques individual and team efforts, towards continuous improvement.
  • Encourages uniformly high design and production standards and monitors projects to ensure that quality and production standards are met for all design and contract documents.
  • Build rapport and establish positive relationships with existing and prospective clients to ensure client-focused performance.
  • Actively participates with professional and community-focused organizations to grow relationships and introduce/educate potential clients towards the Architecture/Building Engineering Practice at Michael Baker International.
  • Familiarity with Building Information Modeling (BIM) [Autodesk Revit Architecture/AutoCAD], technical specifications software, as well as applicable building codes, and application project implementation.
  • Possess excellent computer skills with a high level of proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Adobe, and Bluebeam.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to articulate ideas, both verbally and in writing; personable and outgoing in work relationships, both externally and internally; highly precise, detailed, and self-organized; frank and candid during all business relationships.
  • Specific experience with Design/Build and other alternate project delivery methods is highly preferred.
  • Experience with Aviation, Transit, and Commercial A/E business development is essential, including market research and developing responses to Requests for Proposals, as well oversight of written and graphic marketing materials.
  • Demonstrated business development/marketing experience as a "Seller-Doer" including proposal management and technical response proposals (SF330, Design/Build, etc.).
  • Thorough knowledge of the business of Aviation, Transit, and Commercial specific architecture with demonstrated experience leading, directing and managing people and projects.
  • Aviation Architecture/ Program Management qualifications include:
    • Demonstrated thorough understanding of terminal and operations support for airside and landside facility design and project management experience for large, medium, or small hub airports.
  • Transit Architecture/ Program Management qualifications include:
    • Demonstrated thorough understanding of DOT, Tollway, Bus and Rail system operations and support facility design and project management experience.

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • BS/BA Architecture; Bachelor of Architecture; or MS/MA Architecture (4-6 Year Degree), with active licensure as a Registered Architect (RA) . NCARB certification is preferred.
  • Strong leadership with a minimum 15 years of experience in the design, documentation, and management of multi-disciplinary architecture/building engineering projects and staff resources beyond initial licensure.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) credentials preferred.
  • LEED Accredited Professional (AP), or equivalent, preferred.
  • Travel (25%+/-) is anticipated based on program/project responsibilities.

COMPENSATION

The approximate compensation range for this position is $120, 818 to $200, 000. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
