We are seeking a Psychiatrist - Medical Director of Behavioral Health Services to lead and expand psychiatric care across our clinics in South Texas. Essential Duties:
• Plan, develop, and implement psychiatric services across clinics to ensure patient care meets professional standards and aligns with organizational goals.
• Provide clinical oversight and supervision of psychiatric staff, including mid-level practitioners and nursing personnel, and participate in performance evaluations and continuing education efforts.
• Coordinate and collaborate with Behavioral Health leadership, and other clinical teams to ensure seamless delivery of psychiatric care and resolve patient concerns.
• Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, formulate diagnoses, and develop individualized treatment plans using a biopsychosocial model.
• Diagnose and treat a range of mental health conditions, including anxiety, mood disorders, psychotic disorders, ADHD, OCD, and substance use disorders.
• Ensure quality assurance by overseeing psychiatric documentation, maintaining medical records and equipment, developing pharmaceutical guidelines, and participating in QA programs.
• Provide consultation and in-service training to staff, contribute to policy development, and serve as a liaison to external partners and internal teams.
• Engage in patient and family communication, crisis intervention, referral coordination, and participation in professional meetings and activities as required.
Qualifications:
• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) from an accredited medical school, with successful completion of an accredited psychiatric residency program.
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry.
• Current State of Texas Medical License, DEA registration, Texas DPS license, and certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
• Strong ability to analyze and interpret complex documents, respond effectively to sensitive issues, and communicate complex information clearly and innovatively.
• Excellent reasoning and critical thinking skills; capable of applying scientific and logical principles to solve a wide range of clinical and operational problems.
• Proficient in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Must possess a valid driver's license, access to a personal vehicle, and current auto liability insurance.
• Able to work in a medical office environment with direct patient contact; must be physically able to bend, stoop, twist, walk, sit, stand, and lift up to 15 pounds. Location: Wesley Health & Wellness Center, 1406 Fitch Street, San Antonio, TX 78211
Job Type: Full-time (40 hours per week)
• Clinical Services: 36 hours weekly dedicated to providing clinical services to patients
• Administrative Time: 4 hours weekly allocated for administrative responsibilities
Compensation:
Commensurate with experience, with a competitive salary range typically aligned to market benchmarks for psychiatrist leadership roles, plus eligibility for performance-based incentives.
