Position Summary

The Leadership Development Specialist builds leadership capability and capacity across Methodist Healthcare Ministries. This role designs, delivers, and evaluates innovative leadership learning programs and serves as an internal consultant to strengthen leadership pipelines and overall organizational performance.

Salary

Annual salary rate begins at $83, 423. Mid range at $106, 365. Actual starting rate will be commensurate with experience and education.

Scope and Impact

Responsible for organization-wide leadership development initiatives impacting employees at all levels. The position influences talent development, leadership readiness, and succession planning across 74 counties in South Texas. No direct budget management; however, oversees vendor contracts and program expenditures in partnership with the Director of Organizational Learning and Development.

Decision-Making Authority

Operates with moderate to high independence in program design, implementation, and evaluation. Provides recommendations and data-driven insights to leadership for strategic development initiatives. Decisions impact organizational learning strategies and leadership capability-building.

Interactions / Working Relationships
  • Internal: Collaborates daily with HR, leaders, managers, and staff across departments.
  • External: Engages with vendors, consultants, and training partners as needed.
  • Frequency: Regular cross-functional collaboration; periodic engagement with external partners for specialized training delivery or program design.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assess and Design Programs (25%) - Collaborate with leadership to assess needs and design leadership training and enrichment programs.
  • Facilitate Learning (20%) - Develop and deliver engaging leadership learning opportunities, coaching, and assessments across all employee levels.
  • Program Implementation (15%) - Manage full program lifecycle including logistics, scheduling, and communication.
  • Evaluate and Improve (10%) - Conduct surveys and performance evaluations to ensure continuous improvement of learning initiatives.
  • LMS Management (10%) - Partner with the Organizational Learning & Development Specialist to manage the Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Succession and Talent Development (10%) - Support leadership succession planning through data-driven insights and targeted programs.
  • Vendor and Stakeholder Coordination (5%) - Manage external partnerships and contracts to ensure high-quality learning outcomes.
  • Employee Engagement Support (5%) - Contribute to organization-wide engagement activities and events.

  • Supervisory or Leadership Responsibilities

    This position does not supervise others directly. However, it provides leadership influence through facilitation, coaching, and project management within learning and development initiatives.

    Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications (Required)
    • Education: Bachelor's degree required.
    • Licenses/Certifications: None required.
    • Experience: Minimum of 4 years of leadership experience at manager level or higher; at least 2 years in leadership program/curriculum development.
    • Other Required Skills/Knowledge:
      • Strong facilitation, instructional design, and coaching skills.
      • Demonstrated ability to make key decisions and adjust priorities as needed.
      • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting.
      • Experience working with diverse populations and all organizational levels.
    Preferred Qualifications
    • Master's degree in Organizational Development, Leadership, or related field.
    • Additional years of leadership development or L& D experience.
    • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish (elementary level required).
    • Experience with leadership assessment tools and succession planning processes.
