Job Overview: Linde is currently seeking a Lead Mechanical Technician for our newly constructed industrial gas facility in Nederland, TX. This hands-on leadership role reports to the Site Maintenance Manager and works closely with stakeholders to achieve plant reliability goals. The Lead Technician will validate incoming mechanical work requests from Operations, formalize scopes, and either perform the work or assign it to other Maintenance Team members. This position also tracks team performance metrics and supports training initiatives. Responsibilities: Administrative & Reporting: - Maintain operating and maintenance history for all equipment using manual and digital tools. - Prepare and maintain documentation such as Hexagon work requests, work orders, service reports, and equipment repair records in accordance with Linde CMMS systems. - Monitor mechanical documentation performance and report on work order closure rates, schedule breaks, policy compliance, and backlog. - Facilitate and assist training on Hexagon systems for site staff, including Operations. - Schedule and direct team and contractor activities in all related disciplines. Technical Duties: - Perform skilled mechanical/millwright duties to install, troubleshoot, repair, and modify mechanical equipment and facilities. - Use a wide variety of hand, power, and machine tools to perform assignments. - Troubleshoot and repair mechanical systems, including disassembly and replacement of bearings, gears, and structural components. - Conduct preventive and predictive maintenance on rotating equipment and mechanical systems. - Safely troubleshoot, repair, and maintain compressors, pumps, fans, blowers, boiler systems, valves, and perform equipment alignments. - Complete repairs of mechanical tank and piping systems including threaded, flanged, and welded systems. - Plan and execute maintenance tasks and ensure all follow-up documentation is complete. - Perform elevated work using ladders, stairways, scaffolding, and man-lifts; operate vehicles, forklifts, and other material handling equipment. Key Skills: - Mechanical troubleshooting and repair - Rotating equipment maintenance (compressors, pumps, fans) - Boiler systems and valve maintenance - Mechanical piping systems (threaded, flanged, and welded) - Equipment alignment and preventive/predictive maintenance - CMMS proficiency (Hexagon, SAP, or Maximo) - Technical documentation and reporting - Spare parts inventory management - Safety and regulatory compliance - MS Office and standard software proficiency Soft Skills: - Leadership & Team Coordination - Communication - Problem Solving - Adaptability - Attention to Detail - Initiative - Training & Mentorship - Customer Focus - Time Management - Safety Mindset Qualifications: - Completion of a formal apprenticeship program or equivalent technical training. - High school diploma required; associate degree preferred. - Minimum 7+ years of experience in an industrial production environment. - Journeyman Millwright/Machinist experience preferred. - Ability to interpret equipment drawings. - Proven understanding of regulatory and industrial standards and codes. - Experience with CMMS systems (Hexagon, SAP, or Maximo). - Proficiency in computers and standard software packages (MS Office, Email). - On-call availability required for 24/7 operations. - Willingness to support turnarounds at other facilities including Sulphur, West Lake, and Port Arthur.
