Position Description
The incumbent in this position will provide project management for various field and office functions related to ongoing environmental projects, conduct and oversee field work for gathering environmental data to guide strategy and cleanup, provide timely and accurate project cost and forecast information, and oversee a team of consultants and environmental contractors.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: - Leading complex remediation projects and providing subject matter expertise on scope and risk identification
- Develop site specific strategies and implement them to achieve best possible outcome for Company
- Attend and participate in regulatory and private party meetings related to management of various types of environmental projects
- Prepare and communicate updates to management regarding project progress, direction, scope, and costs
- Provide oversight of contractors, environmental assessments, audits and other functions as needed
- Perform essential office duties to entail report writing, technical editing for contractor reports, waste management, and financial project detail cost and forecast tracking
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Periodic travel required
*Position may be filled at various levels depending on experience and job skills of successful candidate.* Position Requirements
Education: - BS or BA in science, environmental resources, geology or engineering - or closely related field. Experience in lieu of preferred education will be considered.
Experience/Specific Knowledge: - Minimum of three years of relevant experience with performing environmental investigations related to the assessment and remediation of surface water, soils, sediments, and groundwater, and/or related experience.
- Specific knowledge of environmental field studies, methodology, field environmental assessment and remediation, regulatory requirements, and reports associated with remediation of sites in various state regulatory settings
- Experience with CERCLA and Superfund rules and processes and track record of successful project management within these regulations
- Successful track record in project management related tasks including oversight of contractors, project team members including various internal and external stakeholders, interaction with legal representation, and project task to communicate progress, strategy, goals and fiscal project management
Certifications, Licenses, Registrations: - OSHA HAZWOPER 40 Hour Training
- Incident Command Structure (ICS) Training preferred but not required
- Related state licensure (i.e., Professional Engineer, Professional Geologists, LSRP, CHMM, etc., ) preferred but not required
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers (for travel).
Competencies, Skills, and Abilities: - Knowledge of field environmental methods for sampling of surface water, soil and groundwater, monitor well design and installation, soil boring advancement and description of various soil and rock units, competency in report preparation to regulatory agencies describing work performed and results.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for various office duties
- Knowledge of project management concepts and tools to manage scope, schedule, budget, and quality.
- Possess excellent communication skills
- Must be able to work with a team, take direction from supervisor(s) and lead personnel, focus attention on details, follow work rules, and adhere to established work schedules
Physical Demands: - Ability to travel, light field work including oversight of contractors, collection of field samples, and other light duties as assigned.
