Job Description

Kinder Morgan, Inc. is hiring a Roustabout - Treating in Odessa, TX. This is a full-time position, and requiring a high school.

What We Are Looking For

This position is responsible for assembling, installing, and testing oil and gas process skids in accordance with engineering drawings, piping and instrumentation diagrams (P& IDs), and company quality standards. This position requires experience working with mechanical and instrumentation components, including pumps, valves, gauges, tubing, and related process equipment. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, safety-focused, and capable of interpreting basic engineering documentation to complete high-quality skid assemblies.

What You Will Do

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assemble oil and gas process skids according to engineering drawings, P& IDs, bills of materials (BOMs), and work instructions.
  • Install and align pumps, valves, gauges, transmitters, regulators, tubing, fittings, and other process equipment.
  • Read and interpret basic engineering drawings, piping layouts, and P& IDs to ensure proper component placement and flow direction.
  • Perform mechanical assembly using hand tools, power tools, torque wrenches, and precision measuring instruments.
  • Install and route stainless steel tubing and piping while ensuring proper support, alignment, and leak-free connections.
  • Verify components against material lists and drawings before installation.
  • Conduct pressure testing, leak checks, and basic functional testing of assembled systems.
  • Identify and report discrepancies in drawings, materials, or equipment to supervisors or engineering personnel.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in accordance with company safety policies.
  • Work collaboratively with fabrication, welding, electrical, and quality teams to meet production schedules.
  • Follow all quality control procedures and document completed work as required.
  • Works safely and conscientiously to ensure personal safety and the safety of fellow crew members
  • Works under the direct supervision of the Roustabout Supervisor to carry out all assigned job duties
  • Reports any irregularities or safety hazards to the supervisor
  • Perform general groundwork around the facility as needed

What You Need

Education:
  • High school diploma or GED required.

Experience / Specific Knowledge:
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in mechanical assembly, skid fabrication, or oil and gas equipment assembly preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret basic engineering drawings, mechanical drawings, and P& IDs.
  • Experience working with pumps, valves, gauges, pressure regulators, tubing, fittings, and basic instrumentation.
  • Familiarity with common piping components and assembly practices.
  • Basic understanding of instrumentation and process control equipment is preferred.
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, measuring devices, and torque tools safely and effectively.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Working Conditions:
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, bend, kneel, climb, and work in confined spaces as required.
  • Ability to safely operate material handling equipment when properly trained.
  • Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).

Preferred Experience (above minimum requirements but advantageous to the position):
  • Experience assembling oil and gas production equipment or process skids.
  • Knowledge of tubing systems, compression fittings, and pressure testing procedures.
  • Forklift and overhead crane experience.
  • Basic knowledge of quality control and inspection processes.
