Position Description:
Kinder Morgan's Natural Gas Business Unit is seeking an Incident Management System Administrator to support the administration and optimization of the SpheraCloud incident management platform. This role provides daily operational support, user assistance, reporting, and analytics that enhance the organization's EHS performance and drive continuous improvement.
The ideal candidate has strong administrative background, hands-on experience with incident reporting systems, a strong analytical mindset, and a passion for improving processes through data insights, KPI tracking, and trend analysis.
Work Schedule
Kinder Morgan offers a hybrid work schedule: Monday through Wednesday in the office, with the option to work remotely on Thursday and Friday.

Work Location
This position will be based in the Houston corporate office.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Administer and maintain the SpheraCloud incident management system, ensuring system functionality, data accuracy, and user accessibility.
  • Provide application support and training for Natural Gas business unit users.
  • Troubleshoot application issues and escalate complex problems to corporate incident management administrators.
  • Develop and maintain incident management dashboards and reports.
  • Track, analyze, and report key performance indicators.
  • Prepare weekly, monthly, and quarterly incident performance reports for Natural Gas Leadership.
  • Perform administrative duties assigned by the Safety Management, including report preparation, invoice processing, note-taking, document organization, and general departmental support.
  • Conduct trend analyses to identify recurring issues and opportunities for improvement.
  • Collaborate with Corporate Incident Management and business teams to identify enhancement needs and implement best practices.
  • Coordinate departmental projects, ensuring timelines and deliverables are met.
  • Serve as a support member of the Natural Gas Business Unit Incident Review Committee.
  • Represent the Natural Gas Business Unit on the Incident Management Working Group.
  • Maintain and update the EHS SharePoint site for the Natural Gas Safety Department, ensuring documents, forms, and resources remain current and accessible.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support departmental and organizational objectives.

Position Requirements

Required:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Safety, Data Analytics, or Info Systems degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience administering incident management systems.
  • Basic understanding of incident management practices.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives concurrently.
  • Advanced skills in Excel or other data analysis and reporting tools.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills, with effective verbal and written communication.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Experience in creating reports, dashboards, or data summaries.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment, follow supervisory direction, and adhere to schedules and work rules.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers (for travel).
  • This position requires limited travel, primarily for occasional meetings at other company locations or essential business activities. Travel is estimated at approximately 5%, and may include both ground and air transportation.

Working Conditions:
  • Majority of the work will be conducted from an office environment. Extended periods of sitting may be required for administrative activities.
  • The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
  • The nature of the work requires a significant amount of visual acuity for reading in both electronic and hard copy formats in order to review documents, proofread work, create documents, and perform tasks in KM's EHS compliance systems.
  • Flexibility to work extended hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on operational needs.

Preferred (above the minimum requirements; not required but advantageous in the position)
  • Knowledge of compliance training requirements in a corporate or regulated environment preferred.
  • Experience with environmental, health, and safety terminology and practical field knowledge.
  • General understanding of the energy industry and familiar with industry terminology.
  • Working knowledge of databases.
  • Advanced proficiency level in MS Office applications including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint, SharePoint, MS Teams.
  • Professional certifications in an EHS discipline, or similar background, are considered a plus.
  • Experience with PowerBI or Qlik analytic dashboard development
