Position Description: With approximately 70, 000 miles of natural gas pipelines, we own an interest in or operate the largest natural gas network in North America. Our pipelines serve major consuming domestic markets and transport approximately 40 percent of the natural gas consumed in the United States. Our pipelines are also connected to every important natural gas resource play and supply area in the United States, including the Eagle Ford, Marcellus, Bakken, Utica, Uinta Permian, Haynesville, Fayetteville and Barnett.
Primary responsibility is to be responsible for safe, dependable, and efficient pipeline operations. This is an entry level position to perform the job duties of a gas controller on any of the following systems: SNG. The job location is Houston and the hours are 12 hour shifts. The controller will be responsible for safe, dependable, and efficient pipeline operations. Draft and distribute emergency response communiqués utilizing KM's emergency response systems. Ensure smooth transition of shift turnovers through verbal and written communication. Maintain a high regard for personal safety, the safety of company assets and employees, and the general public.
Position Requirements
Minimum Requirements: Education: - High school diploma required
Certifications, Licenses, & Registrations: - Must possess and maintain a valid driver license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers (for travel)
Competencies, Skills, & Abilities: - Good analytical thinking
- Able to remain calm during emergencies.
- Works well with others.
- Communicates well, verbally and written.
- Willingness to provide high level of customer service.
- Willing to study and work outside normal hours when needed for self-improvement.
- Follows up and follows through when required.
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft applications (including but not limited to Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Ability to perform the required and expected duties with little or no direct supervision.
- Occasional but infrequent travel away from the assigned work location may be required
- The successful candidate will be required to clear a drug screen and a complete background check
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time.
Working Conditions:
- Modern office located in Downtown, Houston TX.
- Secured, control center environment
- 24x7x365 operation; work schedule change may occur with little advance notice
- Unscheduled overtime may be required
- Occasional but infrequent travel away from the assigned work location may be required
Preferred: Above the minimum requirements; not required but advantageous in this position: - Experience in the natural gas industry in the area of gas control, gas scheduling, and/or field operations
- Experience working in a 24x7x365 work environment is advantageous
- Associate level degree in any discipline is preferred
