What We Are Looking For

Performing engine and compressor optical frame alignment profiles to improve compressor station and/or process plant equipment maintenance and reliability by providing a roadmap for repair recommendations. Counseling and advising operations management as well as our KMI TECH-Services / Compression department regarding engine & compressor frame repair recommendations. Implementation of repair recommendations resulting from optical profile findings.

What You Will Do

Essential duties and Responsibilities:
• Perform engine and compressor optical frame alignment profiles.
• Provide engine and compressor frame repair recommendations / repair plans.
• Provide project scoping for engine and compressor frame repair recommendations.
• Provide cost estimates for engine and compressor frame repair recommendations.
• Rectify and repair compressor & engine frame alignment issues.
• Perform routine engine and compressor maintenance activities.
• Provides corrective actions to resolve engine and compressor frame alignment problems.
• Provides training on optical equipment and maintenance policies and procedures.
• Assists in equipment failure analysis and in the development of repair plans.
• Complete appropriate documentation and communicate the mechanical condition of equipment to local and regional management.
• Provide mechanical assistance in the maintenance of plant equipment.
• Perform all work in compliance with all Company standards, procedures, and regulatory and tariff requirements.
• Assist with start-up and integrity evaluation of repaired equipment.
• Deal with a wide variety of people with tact, courtesy and professionalism. Speak clearly, both in person and by telephone, using a high level of verbal skills and listen carefully.
• Manage other related duties as assigned.

*The primary location for this position is Amarillo, TX, however company locations in West Texas or Southeast New Mexico will be considered.

What You Need

Education:
• Associates degree in a technical field, or equivalent experience.

Experience/Specific Knowledge:
• Basic computer skills working with the Microsoft Office product line (Word, Excel, and Outlook), learn additional equipment specific data acquisition applications.
• Solid basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals).
• Strong mechanical aptitude.
• Working knowledge and experience with high pressure gas, reciprocating two and four cycle integral/separable.
• Working knowledge of reciprocating engine and compressor maintenance repair processes and procedures.
• Working knowledge of optical profiling equipment.
• Working knowledge of laser alignment equipment.
• Ability to use manuals, specifications, drawings and other resources to correct mechanical problems.

Certifications, Licenses & Registrations:
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers.

• Must possess good verbal and written communication skills.

Physical Demands/Working Conditions:
• The successful candidate will be required to clear a drug screen and a complete background check, after an offer has been extended and prior to being employed.
• Living locations within 60 miles of the Kinder Morgan Amarillo Office.
• Overnight(s) travel will be required.
• Physical ability to lift as much as 40lbs, bend/stoop, kneel and climb stairs/ladders.
• Ability to use hand tools and equipment, repetitive hand use such as simple grasp and twisting motion.
• Ability to work in extreme weather conditions.
• Be available for and provide Emergency Response after regular business hours which may require carrying a communication device.
