Position Description
Houston, TX is the preferred reporting location; consideration may be given for reporting to another Kinder Morgan location.
Candidates for this position will be required to have an overall understanding of the Pipeline Damage Prevention Program. Including; One Call Systems, State One Call laws, API RP-1162, RP-1185 Public Awareness Programs, Aerial Patrol Program and Damage Information Reporting Tool (DIRT). Knowledge of ESRI's ArcGIS software. A general understanding of pipeline systems is required.
Some of the candidate's responsibilities will include, but not be limited to: Kinder Morgan's One Call system support, Aerial Patrol Program support, One Call Viewer program support, One Call Auditing program and support, DIRT support and analysis. As well as providing data analysis as required by customers.
Responsibilities:
• Interact with customers to maintain, update, and create One Call CDC areas.
• Develop, maintain, update, and distribute various system reports
• Provide immediate, quality response to high priority or emergency Database and one call issues.
• Work closely with I.T. to maintain system reliability and access.
• Create maps and reports for encroachment investigations.
• Maintain all DP programs with latest data from PODS/GIS group.
• Train Field Operations and other users on deployed software packages, One Call systems, DP Programs, etc.
• Install and support DP software.
• Maintain DP system schematics
• Maintain DP CDC & Distribution database
• Maintain & enhance DP costs and ticket analysis database
• Participate in local, state, national DP organizations as needed.
• Participate ERL, Emergency Response Calls, for Damage Prevention and Public Awareness.
Position Requirements
Education
• A degree from an accredited institution or equivalent related pipeline industry experience is preferred.
• Associates degree in Engineering Sciences or equivalent work experiences.
Experience
• Minimum 5 years experience in underground utility business. To include work in Damage Prevention and Public Awareness. Teaching and or Training in this field is a plus.
Skills/Qualifications
• Excellent customer service skills and ability to work with all levels of management as well as employees in corporate and field offices.
• Strong leadership skills with a history of leading teams to complete projects. A history of executing projects with challenging circumstances is preferred.
• Strong project coordination, planning and overall management skills
• Effective communication skills, both oral and written, interpersonal skills, analytical skills and the ability to analyze a problem from various perspectives and make sound recommendations are required.
• Employee must have a good understanding of data flow through various systems and understand basic table structures.
• The individual must be self-motivated and willing to learn new and changing technologies.
• Individual must possess drive for self-directed work activity and be able to maintain a close working relationship with reporting employees in multiple locations.
• Microsoft Office Suite proficiency required.
• A technical understanding of pipeline systems is preferred - including but not limited to GIS, Pipeline Database Systems (PODS), Class/HCA Location Determination, Public Awareness, components and characteristics of Pipeline material and data associated with the Pipelines
• Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize daily work to meet schedules and objectives, maintain confidentiality, and work with remote team members
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers
• Maintain a high regard for personal safety, safety of company assets, employees, and the general public
• Position requires up to 50% travel
• Programming experience would be considered valuable, but is not required
• Must be able to delegate to, organize and manage personnel that are not direct reports. In order to meet common goals within the organization.
