Job Description
Kinder Morgan, Inc. is hiring a Compressor Operator - Yates in Iraan, TX. This is a full-time position, and requiring a high school.
What We Are Looking For
This position is a Relief Plant and field compressor Operator position at the Yates Gas Plant. The successful candidate will serve a vital role in maintaining the safe and efficient operations of the compression and plant facilities.
The Yates Field Compression fleet consists of a number of slow speed reciprocating Clark TLAB-6 (2000 hp units), Ingersoll KVS and KVSR (2000 and 2600 hp units), Dresser Rand compressors (5500 HP electric driven), Aerial compressors (5500 HP electric driven). The fleet also contains three turbine driven Solar centrifugal compressors (3750 and 4250 hp units). The main purpose of these compressors is to compress raw produced gas for further processing or re-injection into the Yates Field Reservoir.
Job level commensurate with experience and skill set.

What You Will Do
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Surveillance of plant processes on PLC or DCS
- Surveillance of plant and field compression on PLC or DCS
- Surveillance of field gas gathering system pressures and flows on PLC or DCS
- Daily rounds and monitoring of equipment to identify operational problems not indicated through PLC or DCS alarm systems
- Manually operate valves as operations dictate
- Lockout/ Tag out and permitting duties for maintenance work
- Interact with contract personnel
- Identify, report, and correct safety and environmental concerns
- Complete appropriate documentation and paperwork
- Provide oral and written communication of activities to appropriate personnel
- Write Maintenance Work Orders as needed
- Operate company vehicles during daily activities
- Relieve operations personnel of operator duties during vacation or as required
What You Need
Education Required:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
REQUIRED SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE:
- Solid safety and environmental practices
- Basic math skills
- Self-starter and high drive for results
- Must be able to handle multiple tasks
- Strong teamwork
- Strong communication skills
- Good computer skills
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Must be able to work with a team, take directions from supervisor(s), prioritize work schedules, focus attention on details, and follow work rules
- Must maintain a valid driver's license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers
- 1-2 years of experience in oil and gas operations
- 1-2 years of experience in compressor operations
- Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Work 12 hr. Rotating Schedule relieving other operators when they are off, either days or nights.
- Be available for call-out, overtime, and fulfill other scheduling needs as required by the company
- Requires working on holidays when a holiday falls on a scheduled workday
- Tasks are performed indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions in daylight & darkness.
- May be required to stand, walk, sit, ascend/descend stairs or ladders, use hand tools, reach with hands and arms.
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Plant vessels, compressors and piping systems contain H2S and hydrocarbon gases which are flammable and may be explosive under certain circumstances
