Position Description

Primary purpose:
The Compression Supervisor is responsible for the safe and efficient operations of the Yates compression fleet, and supervision of ten compression operators and four SCADA controllers. The current Yates compression fleet consists of nineteen machines (10 gas fired, 9 E-drives), 76, 000 BHP that compresses and reinjects ~400 MMCFD between Yates Gas Plant (YGP) and 5 other compression stations distributed across the Yates field. The Operations Supervisor maintains employee work schedules, optimizes compression processes and trains employees to achieve maximum compression runtime. The position is highly demanding requiring detailed knowledge of complex operations, the ability to work in a team environment and the competency to make rapid business decisions to protect the public and the asset.

Essential duties and responsibilities:
  • Oversee compression operations
  • Troubleshoot process and/or compression upsets
  • Act as primary Kinder Morgan contact for compression operations
  • Operator scheduling
  • Prepare, review and ensure proper training of operating and maintenance procedures
  • Review and process Management of Change (MOC) documentation
  • Participate in Process Hazard Analyses (PHA's) - when applicable
  • Perform cost tracking and cost optimization of compression processes
  • Collaborate with production and maintenance personnel to solve technical problems
  • Aid with the development of improvement projects
  • Evaluation of company and contractor safety practices and performance
  • Ensure ongoing training and development of employees
  • Participation in on-call rotation during the week and during weekends
  • Act as on-site incident commander in emergency situations
  • Participate in ICS drills and training

Position Requirements

Minimum requirements:
Education:
  • High school diploma or GED.

Experience / Specific knowledge:
  • 7 years minimum experience in oil and gas industry.

Certifications, licenses, registrations:
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
Competencies, skills, and abilities:
  • Proven track record in managing oil and gas operations in a safe and efficient manner
  • Knowledge of CO2 EOR operations
  • Excellent communicator with the team, operations, and commercial groups.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment, frequently under pressure, on multiple tasks.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in Microsoft applications and well versed in making/generating presentations.
  • Must be able to work with a team, take direction from supervisors, focus attention on details
  • Required to carry a company provided cell phone, and be available to respond during working and non-working hours
  • Previous experience with compression practices and procedures
  • Strong background in safe work practices and active participation in safety program
  • Self-starter and high drive for results
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong prioritization and planning skills
  • Familiarity with KM CO2's management systems (CAM, Sphera Cloud, ISNetWorld, LMS, audits, OOOOb, etc.)
Physical demands:
  • Extended hours during upset conditions
  • Work outside in all weather conditions as needed
  • Live within a 30 min response time to the field (Iraan, Sheffield, McCamey or Rankin)

Working conditions:
  • Subject to extended hours, callout and holidays

Preferred education, experience, certifications, competencies, skills, and abilities:
Above the minimum requirements; not required but advantageous in this position:
  • Associate's degree or technical school training
  • Previous experience with the following compression equipment:
- Clark TLAB-6, Solar Centaur, Ariel, Dresser Rand HHE
Other responsibilities:
  • Special projects as required.
