Position Description
Job OverviewThe Compliance Coordinator plays a pivotal role in ensuring Gas Control operations at Kinder Morgan comply with the Control Room Management (CRM) requirements of the Department of Transportation (DOT), Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) regulations. This role requires a highly organized, self-directed professional capable of interpreting federal requirements and maintaining Gas Control training, standards, and procedures.
Compliance Management- Monitor and interpret DOT PHMSA regulations and compliance requirements
- Prepare for and represent Gas Control during audits and inspections
- Maintain and update Operations & Maintenance (O& M) and CRM procedures
- Manage records, documentation, and compliance deadlines
- Develop tools and processes to ensure alignment with regulatory
- Track and document compliance deviations
- Prepare monthly compliance reports and support management initiatives
- Conduct workload analysis
- Participate in incident investigations on behalf of pipeline management
IT Collaboration/ Software Implementation- Assist in the design, development, and implementation of software tools for Pipeline Management's business, and compliance related needs.
- Partner with IT, engineering, operations, and customer service to align analytics solutions with business needs.
- Collaborate with IT teams to ensure software solutions meet business requirements, operational and regulatory compliance needs.
- Participate in software testing, validation, and user acceptance processes.
- Develop and deliver training programs for Gas Control personnel on new software tools and system updates.
- Training and Development
- Deliver training to new controllers
- Conduct annual compliance training
- Develop, update, and maintain training materials and programs to ensure relevancy
- Serve as Learning Management System (LMS) administrator
- Proctor Operator Qualification (OQ) exams and manage evaluation and renewal records
Operational Support- Represent Gas Control in SCADA system changes and related projects
- Support software enhancements that improve pipeline safety, efficiency, and compliance
- Review controller activities and workload analyses to ensure safe operations
- Support department-wide goals, incident investigations, and lessons learned

Crisis and Business Continuity- Serve as Business Continuity Plan Coordinator
- Plan and coordinate control room operations during emergencies and system upgrades
- Coordinate and document testing of backup SCADA systems, manual procedures, relocation backup sites, and emergency response protocols
- Collaboration and Communication
- Collaborate across departments to support compliance and operational needs
- Maintain Gas Control portals and essential resources
- Respond to requests from regulatory agencies, such as PHMSA
- Implement process improvements in response to regulatory and industry changes

Position Requirements
Education- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or equivalent business experience
Qualifications- Strong organizational and multitasking skills
- Proficiency in SharePoint, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Effective oral presentation skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
Preferred Skills- Knowledge of PHMSA compliance requirements
- Understanding of natural gas industry and Control Room operations
