Position Description

Key contributor for the corporate risk management group, which oversees risk control and reporting for commodity marketing activities across the company, with a primary focus on natural gas. This role holds responsibility for monitoring compliance with risk policies, management and oversight of market data inputs, understanding evolving risks / exposures and recommending solutions, as needed. This role also leads enhancement projects and troubleshooting efforts for the energy trading and risk management (ETRM) system. Will support management decision-making with prompt and accurate information about marketing performance, as well as company-wide exposures. Must be a self-starter with the ability to work across and communicate throughout the organization.
Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Own the generation of daily MTM and position reports, with the ability to identify trends, seek out required information and clearly communicate risks / exposures with broader stakeholders
  • Monitor and enforce compliance of risk controls and policies
  • Lead routine KM Gas Marketing risk meetings, including preparation of agenda and discussion materials
  • Own internal controls to ensure positions are accurately reported to management and investors in quarterly and annual SEC filings
  • Set-up new market areas and pricing points for both physical and financial gas activity, acting to balance trader preferences with the public company need for liquid and transparent pricing
  • Work with commercial team to verify that the setup of new service contracts / complex trades accurately represent the positions, MTM and risk
  • Responsible for updating and validating trader marks, where relevant / sufficient business exists
  • Conduct sensitivity analysis and ad-hoc risk assessments to understand exposures and market risks
  • Advise on and implement risk policy changes / enhancements and other process improvements (e.g., VaR)
  • Serve as point of contact for IT organization in support of day-to-day problem solving and new project initiatives
  • Prepare quarterly Risk Management Committee meeting materials and respond to questions, as needed
  • Act as back-up for trade confirmation role, as needed
  • Support audit requests from internal and external auditors

Position Requirements

Position Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics or other quantitative fields
  • 10+ years of experience in commodities risk management or related areas, including MTM calculations, position limits, VaR, options, storage and transportation valuation, etc.
  • Proficient in Allegro or similar ETRM with implementation experience strongly preferred
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate complex quantitative concepts to various stakeholders and build relationships while maintaining independence
  • Self-starter with strong initiative and drive to support growth areas with evolving needs
