Job Description

Kinder Morgan, Inc. is hiring a Commercial Contract Administrator in Houston, TX. This is a full-time position, and requiring a high school.

What We Are Looking For

Primary Purpose
  • Work with business development, legal, accounting, business processes, and other stakeholders to draft and manage revenue generating commercial contracts, including trade confirmations, for pipeline and terminal operations in the Products Pipelines business unit.
  • Position job title will be assigned, depending on the qualifications, skill sets and experience of the successful candidate.

What You Will Do

Essential duties and responsibilities:
  • Will work closely with business development and attorneys to facilitate the drafting, redlining, and execution of contracts using KM in-house contract management system.
  • Will work closely with business development and attorneys to draft and process trade confirmations utilizing approved GTC's.
  • Create and maintain contract memos for revenue agreements that will communicate the terms of the deal and invoicing requirements to internal stakeholders.
  • Maintain contracts as per terms of agreement which includes the mathematical calculation of the annual rate index adjustments (rate escalations).
  • Assist internal customers with contract queries.
  • Assist in maintaining electronic contract file library.
  • Adherence to SOX Controls.
  • Consistently maintain and demonstrate a high regard for personal safety, for the safety of company assets, employees, and the general public.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What You Need

Minimum requirements:
Education
  • BS or BA degree, or equivalent experience, in Law, Contract Administration, Accounting, Finance, Marketing, or General Business.

Experience / Specific Knowledge:
  • 1-3 Years minimum in a contract drafting and/or paralegal related position requiring drafting, execution, and management of contracts. Job level will be commensurate with experience and skills of selected candidate.
  • Excellent computer skills including the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Teams, and Outlook).
  • Must possess skills in grammar and techniques of business composition.
  • Good interpersonal communication skills for dealing with customers, both internal and external.
  • Ability to read and comprehend business contracts through work or educational experience.

  • Must possess strong attention to detail skills
  • Must possess strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks
  • Well-balanced interpersonal skills and strong verbal and written communications skills are required.

  • Must be able to recognize and treat confidential information appropriately.
  • Communicate clearly and understandably in English; both orally and in writing (includes telephone, grammar, and business composition skills).
  • Ability to organize, establish, and maintain filing and record keeping systems.
  • Ability to prepare reports from electronic data and various sources.
  • Ability to prepare reports and correspondence.
Phys ical demands:
  • Ability to manipulate computer keyboard.
  • Ability to read various documents; electronic and paper.
  • Ability to work in office environment at a workstation, usually sitting, for long periods of time.
  • Ability to work remotely (telecommute), if required.
  • Employee must be physically capable of completing and satisfying all training requirements as stipulated by local, state or federal agencies and/or Company Policy.

Working Conditions:
  • May need to work late from time-to-time to meet demands of the business
  • Travel may be required, including overnight stays for several days.
  • The majority of the work will be conducted from an office environment - controlled temperature.

Prefe rred education, experience, certifications, competencies, skills, and abilities:
Above the minimum requirement; not required but advantageous in this position:
  • Use of Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Teams.
  • Excellent attention to detail skills
  • Understanding of petroleum pipelines and terminals.
  • Experience calculating contractual rate escalations based on contract terms
  • Familiarity with General Terms and Conditions for the purchase/sale of physical commodities
